I have been using my tried and true Boss Metal Zone into a Boss 7 band EQ for a few decades. I had been looking at getting the Waza Craft Metal Zone before my old Metal Zone takes a dump on me, but I also wanted to see what else is out there. I watched a video review of the MXR Fullbore Distortion and was impressed, but not enough to buy one. Well! My fiance took care of that for me and ordered it for me as a surprise. I plugged it in right away the day it got here. I plugged it into my 7 band EQ. I kinda gave it a half ass listen and wasn't impressed. I picked it back up and figured I would exchange it for a noise gate as that is what I needed more. It sat there for a week or so and I decided to give it another chance. I plugged straight in to the front of my half stack and used a suggested setting I found online. I had to back off on my maps EQ across the board and just tweak it. What I heard was something that sounded familiar and new at the same time. I cranked it up and tried the on board noise gate and it works great! Basically it's a distortion, EQ and a noise gate in one pedal. I tried my old set up side by side with this pedal and the fact that this one pedal eliminated 2 other pedals in the chain was what finally sold me. I love this thing. It likes high gain pickups. My Strat with a Seymour Duncan TB 6 Distortion in the bridge sounds like a flame thrower! Distortion is a very personal thing. Not everybody will love it. So far everybody who has listened to me says that it sounds insane, badass, etc. For the music I play it fits. It's an all around sound I can use on everything I cover on guitar. To me that's the goal to have one sound do it all. I'm very happy that I kept it and gave it another try. One thing to remember is that with this pedal it's okay to back everything down and especially on your amp. Usually I would put everything in the middle and adjust my Distortion and EQ around that. With this pedal I have the amp's EQ, everything on 2-3. This could be the Distortion sound your looking for.

well I Have been using a lot of Boss, but I am sure going to give MXR another look here.
Sound
I got this pedal for xmas today, I am very pleased with it. it didn't look like much tome when I pulled it out of the box but let me tell you I know this pedal is a going to be up on top with other legend pedals like the tube screamer TS808 and many more! the sound is awesome! I played this thru the clean channel on my Carvin legacy head in 50watt mode & thru a "G-flex 212 cab, I set the pedal up on the half-stack setting in the booklet and dropped the pedel volume down to 9 o'clock this sound belw away my boss metal zone and all the rest,i never thought that i was going to get such an awesome souding riffs with my strat but I did. if you are looking for a awesome modern tone get this bad boy before the price goes up, because if I was MXR I would be setting a higher price tag on this one, however I hope they leave the tag alone...
Features
very cool
Ease of Use
I was amazed of the sound right from the start
Quality
I like the size very compact it will go intomy board very nicely very cool...
Value
Value, I paid a lot more and got a lot less, I even tried those mods off eBay the are not worth the money.this bad boy is well worth the $
Manufacturer Support
well since I have never called for support, I would guess they are on it. the booklet and all the lit, that came with it shows they stand behind their stuff.
The Wow Factor
really looks a bit cheaper than most pedals as it is just a brushed aluminum case with silk screening on it, I am happy that this is the only place MXR cut corners on cuz what counts is what is inside and inside is awesome I mean the sound is right on...

This pedal is way more capable and better sounding than most YT videos will show. Thrash, death metal, and even stoner doom (it excels at this), nothing in the metal world is off limits to this beast. Best of all, the built in noise gate can be set to your specific needs. Oh, and if you like low-end, this has well more than enough to suit. Some think this has a "can-o-bees" tone, if you know how to dial things in, you can easily avoid this type of tone.

I wanted a high gain pedal and i got one. Lots of of settings to play with. i do want to adjust the noise gate but am a little nervous about digging around the imside.the highs seem a little ...high for my tastes but with the scoop on it gets a nice type o negitive sound wich i like and lotsa lotsa distortion sounds great out of my fender stack at lower volumes i live in an apt so i havent been able to see how it soumds at high volumes...but i like it and at $100 it was right in my budget or lack there of

I would replace if stolen.
Sound
This thing can do a wide variety of sounds. Even with the gain all the way down you can get smooth distorted lead sounds. I am using it with a Mesa Boogie express 550 212 to give me extreme metal tones and i am very happy with the sound of this pedal!
Features
I love the features! My only complaint is they put the noise gate switch on the inside of the unit! It is the smallest switch to turn. I didnt have a flathead screwdriver that was small enough to rotate the noisegate so it wouldnt cut off the notes quite so quickly. It irritated me, just put an extra nob on the front! The only time i do need the noise gate was if i have the gain past 75% of max! Even then the hiss is pretty small. You could go without it if you are shredding alot. I got a yngwie pedal with 25% the amount of gain this beast puts out and that thing if i go past half way it starts to make the waterfall sounds!
Ease of Use
The settings in the manual surprisingly sounded pretty good. Doesn't take long to dial your sound.
Quality
Seems really sturdy!
Value
Great value. Even having to dial the noise gate back a bit. Great pedal and sounds better than any other high gain pedals i have heard lately.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with them.
The Wow Factor
I like the looks and the led colors!
