Despite other reviews that suggest otherwise, this amp ROCKS!! (sorry about the cliche). The clean channel is the best marshall have yet offered, it may not be exactly Fender twin material but you don't get this amp for the clean channel. The crunch channel cuts like a knife with power chords but the jewel in the 100watt crown has to be the lead channel. It provides unparalleled distortion and compression, meaning you can play anything without notes blurring into a mush. This beast is LOUD! try to get the volume over one on the lead channel in your bedroom! the amp still sounds fantastic at this low setting. The virtual power reduction mode emulates accuratly a 25watt amp, and is a useful feature, as is the tone shift and mid boost buttons.
This amp lets you dial out any tone you want with the above functions as well as seperate eq's for each channel.you can find a new sound everyday! Don't get me wrong, this amp is heavy, but that is not an issue when the amp is as good as this combo is. Buy if you have the money spare, you won't be dissapointed. Try other marshalls and mesa boogies so you get exactly what YOU want. remember, tone is subjective.

This amp has terrific features. It's easily the best Marshall I've heard in a very long time, since the early 800 series for certain. Lots of depth, good clean, great crunch (especially good for Strats), and the lead channel is that hard-driving Marshall distortion that Les Pauls just love. Beats the DSL hands down.

I've had it over 2 years and play it all the time. At bigger venues, i add a 4x12 cab. The sound can't be beat. Whether I am using my Les Paul or my Strat, I can get the sound I want.

This amp has a very warm, sweet clean channel, an in-between dirty channel, and a screaming lead channel all with seperate reverb, gain , eq., and footswitch control. Personally I cant stand the way distortion/overdrive pedals sound. This gives you every sound needed, all coming directly from the amp itself-genuine marshal tone. I want one!!!

Feature:
I wish I could switch to 50 watts

Quality:
The quality is outstanding

Value:
This amp must be worth $1700 by todays prices I paid 1500

Sound:
love that vintage Clapton sound this will bring tears to the eyes. This will get you that distinctive "violin" sound that blues guitaists crave. Also the clean channel allows you to play surf music at a click of the footwsitch

Ease of Use:
There are a lot of knbs and switches, but once youv'e played with it for a couple of hours your all set

Support:
I have not worked with Marshall

I've tried line 6 Flextone and spider 100 watt 2/12 and they're great, but still for that heavy sustain and crunch they don't match this amp!

Feature:
The footswitch is the achilles heel of this amp, I've had mine repaired numerous times and even had a replacement from Marshall. It seems that the wiring isn't up to the job.

Quality:
See comments about footswitch, if that were sorted the amp would get a 10

Value:
I bought this from a guy who had previously had a Mesa Boogie but preferred the Marshall. It's the best amp I've ever had for gigging - but it would be better if it could be powered down to 50 watts instead of 25.

Desirability:
It does the job for me and is reliable.

Sound:
Very wide range of sounds on crunch and lead channels, clean channel is a muted by comparison. Has enough power to rise above the rest of the band.

Ease of Use:
If you can't get several usable sounds from this amp then you must be deaf!

Support:
I live in the UK so when I took the amp to the Marshall factory they not only replaced the footswitch but carried out a service, replaced valves and other modifications all for free! Beat that!!

Overall:
Can't see me changing to anything else, if it went missing I would have another.
