I bought the Dsl100h while waiting for a replacement power tube board to ship after my English made Jcm 2000 became conductive and died. Tour started in less than a week, and I really wanted the same sound in a hurry. I have several years of experience with tube amps and repair, and I can tell you that the sound is identical to the Jcm 2000 Dsl I already owned. Don't let purists persuade you that it's inferior due to being made in Vietnam. The Dsl100h is basically a more reliable reissue, thanks to the power tubes being chassis mounted as opposed to the Jcm 2000 being pc board mounted along with several other upgrades including a better bias circuit and the isolation of components to one main board, instead of several boards and flying wires. My Jcm 2000 Dsl is fixed now, but my go to amp is the Dsl100h, seeing as the sound is the same, and I can count on it to be reliable. Also, I've bought gear from zZounds for years and they've always been more than accommodating to my needs. You won't regret this amp for that "Marshall roar" or squeaky cleans.

This amp has a really great tone, even at a low volume (bedroom level) On the ultra channel it has loads of break up (no distortion box needed) Clean channel is very warm and bright. The lead 2 channel is muddy and is only good for solo work. The reverb is weak even on 10 but it does add a little depth.

I had the original DSL100 back in the day. I loved the head, but had many problems with it over the years. Marshall's service was outstanding and took good care of me, but I went the way of the Line 6 craze and put Marshall on the back burner. After years of trying to find that tone again, I decided to give the new DSL100 a chance. Heck, the price was right and if anything, I could return it and get the Line 6 Bogner head. Yeah, well... that didn't happen. I plugged this bad boy into 2 sweet cabs, made a couple of adjustments and haven't looked back. I just added a Zakk Wylde MXR overdrive and now my tone is complete. Thick, defined and H E A V Y. Did I mention MARSHALL LOUD? My only complaint is the reverb not having an indicator light. Other than that, you can dial in any sound you want with this head. The louder it gets, the better it gets.

Unpacked this beauty, Set it on top of my (2) 4x12 Johnson/Celestion cabs and could not believe the sound. It was like a 40 year dream come true! I finally have a Marshall tube amp thanks to zZounds. No more pawn shop junk or stuff that has been sitting on the showroom floor of some flunky music store. It is easy to use and pleasant to look at, what else can I say. Oh yeah, did I mention the sound is incredible.

What can I say but WOW! I play anything from classic rock to metal with a 6 string and 7 string guitar. Both sound amazing Marshall hit the mark with this one. I use a 6 band EQ in the effects loop and WOW. Just cut the gain back to 7 on the red channel and set in on lead 2 maybe push it with a tube screamer and you got a great great tone. If you want it to be fatter sound put some KT77 power tubes in it and BAM metal sound from hell but very clean. Bought this on a Monday morning and it arrived on my doorstep Wednesday morning for free!!!!!! No other amp in this price range can touch this amp get it!!!!!!!!!!!

This amp head is more then I expected of it. I plugged this into my MX412A 4x12 Marshall Cabinet and the sound was awesome! You can get any kind of sound with this amp head. I love blasting the mids, with bass half way. You can get a really nice Mesa Boogie Rectifier sound with this and so much more. The clean channel is beautiful and has a smooth sound to it. Overall I love this product. Will be using this at future gigs.

Been a Mesa Boogie dude for many years. Wanted a different sound, researched and decided for the money to purchase the Marshall DSL100H. I am proud to own this amp. Plenty of gain muscle, crisp clean channel and many fuzz sound on channel two. I specifically look for a brown sound and this amp delivers. Sounds great with any guitar and for all types of music. This is a must have. Marshall 100 watt head for under $900 bucks is a steal. Built Quality is excellent and durable. Get one today!

got my first one, turned it on, there was a crackle and pop, then nothing. shipped it back and zZounds sent me another one. The second worked for about two months, then the exact same thing happened. Had to drive it to the nearest Marshall service center which was two hours away in Pittsburgh. they told me the DSL 100 Heads are plague with faulty resistors, which blow the HT fuse, and smoke the circuit board. Luckily mine was still under warranty, but i have to wait 3 weeks for them to rebuild it or replace it. I was really disappointed with the quality, i have a jcm 800 that i have had since 1981, never had an issue.

Purchased the amp ...very good However , a tube blew out right at my bands sound check ..could not witness the goodness of the amp in a live situation ...:bummer ...I went to my local luthier and had ALL THE TUBES replaced...I didn't want to ship the head alllllllllll the way back and pay for freight to ship it out...I understand tubes can go at any time but after only 1 week!!!, but this one was lighting up blue!!!! I'm thinking that amps should be checked before shipment But any way I love the amp now that it's working but I might go the solid state route the next time ...Peace

after owning many Marshalls over the past 30 years this head can best be described by comparing it to 3 Marshall amps. the clean channel is just kinda a ho hum clean fender/vox type.. not really that exciting.. I have an ac30 for that. the crunch on channel one is like a jtm45 or blues breaker.. dark and kinda crunchy. the second channel has 2 voices. lead 1 and lead 2. lead one is a jcm800.. and lead 2 is a jcm 900. so really this amp covers all the food groups I need.. the reverb is not that hot and the mid scoop is whatever.. love the amp it sounds like it should.

First one I got blew a power tube in like 6 minutes...zZounds was all about being amazing and hooking me up with a replacement as well as Marshall, when contacted gave me absolutely no hassles at all and were more than willing to have it replaced immediately. This thing sound pretty juicy! Not quite what I am going for sound wise as far as the gain on the amp is concerned, it crunches for days and would be great for Blues, Rock, Alt. Rock, or Doom/Sludge, but it doesn't cut it for Thrash...not enough tightness, too loose..and I am not a pedal junky lol so I'll just run a distortion box thru the clean and it gets it just right!

"100 weight pixie box"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This pixie box rectangle is a better rectangle than some other pixie box rectangles. It has everything you would want. Knobs, lights and buttons. It even has cables. It sounds good. I can't stop playing with the thing. It is very nice sounding and does something to my brain where my fingers try to catch the strings. Like a cat, but no cat. I Have a can-rex in a box where the pixies go to sing. (I say can-rex becaue I want a dinosaur sticker with an american flag on it. Not blue (Made in USA.) So people should call it that. Even a sillouette rex on american flag. K.) Also this rectangle gets WARM like. Something about the perception of tactile feedback is modified. The Solid state I have does not capture it's character. It actually sounds like legitimate musical. It is the first I have and have played on. I would call it my best and only option. I can't lose. It has two channels and a remote controI. It is worth the money because of how much it weighs. I will keep it forever. It is my new friend. It is better than cigarettes. Or coffee. But maybe not both all the time. It's too hard to describe. I would recommend it to my own kin though. Seriously though it seems like a real INSTRUMENT to me.
