I would deffinitly buy this product again. The only reason I would ever buy a different amp, is if i had enough money to buy an all tube one.
Sound
The sound for the clean channel is great. However...the distortion doesn't quite cut it for what i like to play.
Features
There are so many features how could it not deserve a ten? I enjoy the 4 channel option a lot.
Quality
Everything in this amp is deffinitly great quality. Even the cosmetics are wonderful.
Value
Deffinitly worth the price.
Manufacturer Support
I have never had to send it in...but i have heard a variety of ratings, so i give it an eight.
The Wow Factor
Beautiful amp! wahooo

"It's a Marshall!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm always looking, who isn't? I wish the pedal board had more control over the effects.
Sound
It's great amp for the money it cost. Sounds great, plenty of power for rock and roll, blues, classical. It is not really a head banger, heavy metal amp. You'll need the 800 series for that. I gave it a 9 because there are better model of Marshall's out there but not in this price range!
Features
I use my rack mount Line 6 and floor pedal effects through it.
Ease of Use
Not hard at all. It works for my style of music.
Quality
It's very well made, it is a MARSHALL!
Value
ABSOLUTELY!
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them on any of my Marshall's I own.
The Wow Factor
Sex appeal? Remember it's a MARSHALL. That says it all.

"a great amp with a few minor flaws"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Overall this is not a bad amp. I think it is great for someone who gigs regularly and wants a little more than a combo but cannot afford an all tube head. I just wish they would have made the head a standard size and got rid of the midi cable connection for the foot controller.
Sound
The sound quality is great. You can get a traditional marshall sound, or something close to a mesa if you like the standards. There is also room to create your own combination of sound. The acoustic channel is a nice touch as well. My only complaint is the FX loop. For some reason, unless my pedal has an level control, it is REALLY faint. For example, Boss tremelo and phase shifter are barely noticable, but my chorus pedal sounds great because I can turn it up. Might be me because I usually plug into the front end, but that is my only complaint about sound.
Features
ok, this is a nice 4 channel amp with lots of effects. Problem is, you can only use one effect at a time for clean channel and for dirty channel. It is nice that you can select one for each but I tend to use more than one effect throughout the night, so if I did not have a pedal board, you would have to continually go to the amp and change the settings everytime. Not fun. I don;t understand why Marshall hasn't manufactured a foot controller that would allow you to take full advantage of these effects at will. Another area I have a problem with is the foot controller. Really nice but uses a midi cable. I don't know that this will stand up to the beating of a regular cable. So far so good but we will see what happens. The scoop feature on the distortion channels are really nice. However, I would rather see them dump the effects, add a standard reverb and maybe a seperate channel for the overdrive, and a seperate channel for the overdrive with the mids scooped
Quality
I give this an 8 for 2 reasons. 1, the midi cable for the foot controller. Something just bothers me about that. It hasn't broke yet but I am being extra careful with it. 2, the head is not as wide as the typical marshall head. I am running it through a 1960A cab and the grooves for the feet are about an inch or two outside of the feet on the AVT150 so it has the tendency to slide a bit.
Value
I think this amp is well worth the money I gave for it. Of course it is not all tube, but it still sounds great. The only recommendation I will give is to stay away from the cab that goes with it and get a 1960A or B cab. The one that is suppose to go with it is very poorly built. Will review that later.
Manufacturer Support
Tried finding a number to call them about the FX Loop on their website but had no luck. Luckily the answers@zzounds.com guys were nice enough to provide me with a number. BTW, those guys are great, have yet to ask them a question they could not answer, or direct me to someone who could answer.
The Wow Factor
It's an amp. It has no sex appeal unless you turn it up loud enough and stand in front of it.

"If Ya Wanna Rock...Rock With Marshall"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Don't feel I need to search for anything else! Yes I have a Fender Stage 100,BUT it was replaced with this Marshall AVT 150H There is nothing I don't like about it!!
Sound
I bought this head because when I first started playing Marshall was what I always wanted! Now some 30 yrs.later I finally own a Marshall! For the type of music I play it works out for me It produces nice clean tone, gives that surfer type sound(that we all listened to in the early 60's)to the heavy metal, hard rock, and just plain ole rock I've not been dissappointed with it! I pipe it thru 2 Ampeg 4-12 cabs.everyone that hears it LIKES the sound it produces! How to make it sound better?(WHY)Unless you purchase the OVERPRICED Marshall cabs for it I belive this thing will rock the house, any where!I would recomend Marshall to any one,and would prefer it over ANY amp including Mesa Boogie any day! IF YA WANNA ROCK,MARSHALL IS WHAT TO DO IT WITH!!
Features
I don't need any effects peddles with this Marshall AVT-150h head it has everything I need to play what I play!!
Quality
The product IS WELL made It appears that quality control is excellant, the fit and finish is good, and cosmetically great It is reliable, and will take a beating, and is good for "on the road" use
Value
YES IT'S WORTH THE ASKING PRICE FOR THE MONEY IT'S THE BEST!
Manufacturer Support
NOT YET! I've owned it for only 2 1/2 yrs it's been alright so far!
The Wow Factor
Never thought about an amp having "sex appeal" Always wanted one,it's just a "practial addition" for me,a tool of the trade if you will!

"wheeeeey"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
overall this amp is very good considering its not a tube amp, and allows the less wealthy guitarist to get a respectful sound and amp to gig with
Sound
sounds great, especially the OD2 channel with scoop on :P perfect for what i play especially considering its not a tube amp.
Features
DFXs are useful and saves on pedals, seeing as i dont use many anyway but its a nice touch to a riff or solo or something
Quality
built totally solid, will not let you down
Value
seeing as its a non-tube amp it is definately worth what you pay, as it comes at a cheap price. only problem is the cab.. it could be so much better
The Wow Factor
looks good on stage and makes you smile when you see it roar

"READ ME. You might be disappointed..."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If you're gigging, I highly suggest a tube amp. There are a few good solid state ones out there, but they're pretty rare to find. If this amp were stolen (which it was) I would never think about buying another one. I considered this amp a good at home practice amp that I could beat up on and let my friends used when they didn't want to bring their own equipment over. hehe. I once again give this a 5, People like their own tone, but for hard rock and metal.. this one's not for me.
Sound
I play a lot of Metal and hard rock. I didn't like the sound this amp has. It sounds pretty muddy at high end volumes and it's very hard to throw a bit of mid-range in the mix to make your tone stand out a bit more. If you are in a band with someone who has a tube amp and you have this (in my opinion) peice of junk, you aren't going to hear yourself unless you crank this baby. I turn my volume all the way up and the other guitarist in my band is using a Randall 100w tube amp and he's still sitting at half volume. The clean channel is vibrant and beautiful sounding however. Hence the reason why I gave it a 4. If you are to buy this amp. Don't expect to be a lead guitarist in a band. Perfect amp for sitting at home and practicing however because of the nice built in effects.
Features
All the effects are great on this rig. I love them all and they sound very nice. The footswitch is built like a rock and will never (should never) break. Seperate gain knobs for the 2 overdrive channels are nice as well as the seperate low/mid/high knobs for each channel as well.
Ease of Use
This amp is pretty easy to plug in and start figuring out. All the different effects are right there at your fingertips and you can start plucking away at those new tunes. The only reason I give this a 7/10 is it's really hard to dial in the specific tone you want unless you're looking for something completely new and you haven't discovered it yet. This amp sounds like no bands that I listen to. It'd be pretty good for a classic rock / clean tone, but I don't deal with that stuff.
Quality
Only broken down on me once, the circuit board on the inside fried just before a show when I was letting the head warm up. (I'm used to tube amps). Don't leave this on for extended periods of time without playing it, you might run into the same problem...
Value
I'm going with a 5 here because it might be good for some of you, but if you're looking for that seriously high gain, or hard rock heavy tones, DO NOT GET THIS AMP. This is for the more classic rock, low gain, or if you just like to sit at home and play.
Manufacturer Support
It's Marshall. They make sure you are happy with their product even though 90% of the time they don't have to. Every other Marshall product I've owned (JCM 800, 900, and 2000) have been more than great. Last for years. Thats the Marshall way.
The Wow Factor
The sex appeal on this? This is like getting excited watching bum fights on Jerry Springer. Not very pretty.

"VERSATILE THERE IS ALOT YOU CAN DO WITH IT."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I dont think I'll ever depart with this any time soon.
Sound
The Amp itself sounds a lot better if you run a eq pedal through it perhaps the effects loop. The overall high end is a little too buzzy for my taste but an eq cleans that up with no problem really punching up the tone with great clarity. Also with a little tweaking with the knobs and buttons you can get any sound from classic metal ala sabbath, priest and maiden to the thrashiness of metallica and pantera.I use this amp with a gibson les paul standard with emg pickups which is another factor that may make this amp sound better and I use other stuff like dunlop crybaby wah pedals and marshall bb2 pedal to boost my solos.Considering I love hard rock/metal type of tones I must say this amp suits me fine but I wouldn't really considering this to be a pure blues type of amp>If you want blues go for all tube or more vintage type of amplifiers.
Features
The features are awesome more than I'll ever need the longer you have this amp the more useful it will be to you. Also I'm not too dependent on effects maybe a little chorus on the cleans and occasional delay on my dirty tones including the fact you can separate the effects between the clean and dirty channels. Also having the effects built in is a major plus less pedals to worry about and I don't really make no more than a wah and a overdrive to push the front end of the amp. However people who are more fanatical about guitar effects may not like the features and would prefer upgrading to digitech processing type of units.
Ease of Use
For the modern amp user it shouldn't be that hard at all but It definitely wont take a whole lifetime or per se a college degree to figure it out.Far as getting good sounds out of it I suggest subtle type of settings instead maxing out the bass gain or treble it'll just turn the sound into either mud or fizz.Volume is also another factor to improve the sound and adding some midrange here and there just trust your ears i guess.
Quality
No problems I've used it in the studio and gigs as well.
Value
for well under 1000 bucks I believe I've paid a little over 500 for this I definitely got my moneys worth and more.
Manufacturer Support
I never had to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
I want and I got it It's probably the best amp I have ever played through. It's definitely has a IF NOT BROKEN DONT FIX IT kind of sound for me in my opinion.

"Marshall AVT 150-H = The Last Amp You'll Ever Need!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If this Amp were lost or stolen I would most definitely replace it right away.
Sound
The only reason I am not giving this amp a 10 is because it doesn't make me play any better but I do sound great. I have a collection of nearly 200 vintage pedals and I don't need any of them anymore. This amp is great Clear, mild OD in OD 1, and screaming' in OD 2. The Acoustic Simulator is cool but I have heard better...
Features
The Foot Pedal is awesome and simple with a good intuitive layout. I bought two more and modded them with 3PDT switches and jacks, for true bypass of my vintage effects. One pedal set for my Acoustic/Electrics, Strats, Tele / single coil effects & rack the second for Les Paul, Explorer, and Flying V / hummbuckers effects & rack. Works Great! The 4 channels are phenomenal. The Digital Effects are nice, giving very good but somewhat basic Reverb, Flanging, Chorus, and Delay. Too bad there wasn't a second edit knob and feature for both of the two effects lines.
Quality
I have been playing and teaching guitar for more than 30 years. I think this is the last amp I'll ever buy. Being an electronic tech / engineer I had to open her up right away. She is built for the road. If I were traveling, I would have a good road case for it. Just because of the Ooops Factors of the road... I got the AVT because I liked the idea of only having a single tube to deal with. This generation and model of AVT sound quality is between 90-95% balls-to-the-walls Marshall. As for the "Fit and Finish" the AVT 150-H is beautiful, and awesome to look at... I just wish the case was the full standard width of my 1960 Lead, but I have seen the AVT cabs and understand why Marshall went this way...
Value
This was well worth what I paid!!!
Manufacturer Support
I have owned many marshall products, never needed service. It's a Marshall
The Wow Factor
With everything you have herein you could practice, teach, and play live or even record with out any other equipment. This is an all in one wonder. I use the effects rack and pedals to show students what they are all about and because I've been collecting them for so long, I'll never get rid of them...

"good amp for the price"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
i bought this head because we all know how much marshall tube amps are. i run a line 6 pod xt live pedal in the back and bypass all the marshll sound. the amp delivers awsome power with the dependability of a marshall but the sound i need from line 6.
Features
i have used this amp without my line 6 pod xt live and it sounds good. high distortion adds major feedback when cranked on stage. thats why i ran my line 6 into it. i can crank it up, set it on the clean channel, put on the heavyist distortion i can make on there, and its clean as day with no feedback.
Quality
its a marshall, cant expect anything better for the price i paid
Value
good price for what i wanted
Manufacturer Support
i have never sent this amp to be serviced but i have had to send anouther marshall out and it took forever to get back.
The Wow Factor
i would of been happier if the amp head was a little bigger. the smaller cabs built for this head are not the greatest of sound and when you put it on a bigger cab,,, it looks a little funny.
