I've been producing electronic music for about a decade and the Little Phatty is my first hardware analog synth. I've been working with excellent plugins, such as the DCAM suite, Omnisphere, NI Komplete Synths, and various others... They are all incredible achievements in audio software, but now I know that there really isn't anything that sounds as warm, fuzzy, and awesome as true analog synthesis. In fact, I was really surprised just how creamy (filter cutoff) this Little Phatty sounds in person. I also have a newfound respect for just how good professional soft synths sound - modern soft synths really do capture most of the analog goodness that comes from hardware. Despite the quality of software available, capturing a bass line from the Little Phatty with my Apogee interface produces a quality in the recording that I've just never heard before with software alone. It isn't cheap, but if you are serious about your productions, owning a hardware synth like the Little Phatty, is worth every penny. I couldn't be happier about this purchase. Zzounds is awesome, they have great prices and fast shipping - this was my first purchase but definitely not my last.
Sound
Everybody says Moog synths sound great, after playing a few notes and turning a few knobs - I was surprised just how good they really do sound. The tones are thick with rich harmonics; synthesis bliss. The quality really cuts through a mix too, and really sounds great when combined with other material. For my type of music, modern electronic like dub step, electro, breaks etc, this little synth is perfect. I imagine it's quality will transcend any type of music.
Features
The analog synth engine is awesome. The construction quality is top notch too. The keybed feels great and has excellent response. The addition of USB is extremely useful... Besides generating amazing synth sounds, I use the Little Phatty as a midi controller to play my soft synths - its a centerpiece of my studio. I can't wait to integrate some MoogerFoogers and utilize the built in control voltage (CV) abilities.
Ease of Use
Extremely easy to use. A basic understanding of synthesis is all that is required to dig into the LP. The controls, left to right, follow the audio signal path. The LP is minimalistic but has everything you could want at this quality and price.
Quality
The build quality is professional. It feels as solid as it looks and sounds. I love the backlit pitch and mod wheels. The rotary controls are solid and the buttons and LEDs have the best look and feel I've ever used on an instrument. Keys are excellent and I really appreciate the convenience of the side-mounted ports and connections.
Value
It's an amazing looking, feeling, and most importantly - sounding Moog 37-key analog synth with MIDI, CV, and USB connections. I think the price is just right for what you get. In fact, it's easy to own with Zzounds' price and various payment plans.
Manufacturer Support
I doubt I'll ever need their assistance. I've only read good things about the quality of service they provide - but no first hand experience.
The Wow Factor
My DJ/Producer friends have certainly been impressed. It looks amazing...then you hear it and it's filter sweep and 'wow' doesn't do it justice. Take away the synth and it's still a pretty awesome controller. It looks cool sitting there unplugged even.

I'll probably own this synth for the rest of my life. Obviously I wouldn't want it to be my ONLY synth, but if I need pianos or drums, I have other instruments for that. I have NO other instrument that can do what this synth can do.
Sound
Simply put, the Moog makes everything else sound flat and lifeless by comparison. The bass is astonishingly rich and deep, and the overall tone has a warmth, depth, and texture that makes other synths sound like toys. This is professional-quality analog beyond reproach.
Features
Obviously, this is a synth that only plays one note at a time, and has no onboard sequencer, sample memory, or effects. You could get a 128-voice digital workstation for the same kind of money, so make sure you understand its limitations before you buy.
Ease of Use
The frontpanel is so logically laid out that I've never felt hampered by the limited knob-count. However, the LCD menu is a nightmare even by digital standards, and you do have to dive into it to set any of the non-realtime features like filter slope, arpeggiator mode, and patch name.
Quality
Moog products are the finest mass-produced synths on the planet, period, and while the Little Phatty skimps on features, it does not do so on quality. You do get what you pay for.
Value
This was a hard decision, although I have no regrets. For the same money, you could get a really nice vintage Source or Pro-One. Still, the Little Phatty looks, plays, and sounds like a professional instrument - so I guess I can't complain about paying professional prices.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to use them yet, but based on the forums at the Moog website, the company seems very well-informed and engaged with its users, as one would expect of an elite, US-based institution.
The Wow Factor
Elite brand-name logo on the back. Unique case design with many blinkenlights. I love this synth. My girlfriend loves this synth, and she doesn't even play. It makes top-of-the-line Kurzweils looks like anonymous black boxes by comparison. So... yeah.

Beautifully designed, wonderful-sounding, forward-thinking, yet classically retro, this electronic instrument fulfills my lifelong dream to own a Moog synthesizer. Expensive, but I have found it to be worth every penny- in terms of build quality and authenticity of the Moog sound, one can see where the money went.
