"JamLab Review"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This unit is bound to give me hours and hours of fun and learning. I am simply thrilled to have this in my bedroom for my everyday practice.
Sound
The sound from the Virtual Stomp Box Pedals are really nice. The only reason why I couldn't give a 9 or 10 is because I didn't particularly like the Distortion Module sounds. The rest of the modules are really nice indeed, comparable to some of the high end rack mount effect processors. So this unit for the outperforms for the money you pay for this unit, rather knocks the socks out of some of the effect processor plug-ins are even units.
Features
Wow, features for the price point is really incredible! Auto Pan, Auto Wah, Chrous, Compressor, Distortion, Flanger, Graphic EQ, Noise Gate, Overdrive, Phaser, Reverb and Tremolo. You can chain 8 of these in any order. That is incredible. Included with the S/W bundle is the natural sounding drum samples. Now, all of a sudden you're jamming with an awesome drummer. To top it all, these plug-ins are installed as VST plug-ins, so not only you can use these for jamming but also use these effects in your recordings. To me, that is more added value. Also not to mention that you can load any song to speed down the tempo to learn any guitar licks of any songs. So, this unit is packed with features.
Ease of Use
Very intuitive and user friendly GUI (Graphic User Interface). It took me about 1/2 an hour to figure most of it out and then I was jamming with a drummer!
Quality
Overall, this offers much more than really what you pay for. Just that USB unit is bit cheezy, the rest is unreal!
Value
For the price point, I have to give it a full value. This unit is really good for what you pay for. It simply delivers. Ideal for bedroom practice and for recording. This unit has the potential to make you an awesome guitarist.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had the need to call them for anything. So, point on this really irrelevant at this time.
The Wow Factor
I bought and I know I will use it over and over again. Has the potential to make me a good guitarist.

"Jamlab great for playback. Terrible for recording with. TERRIBLE."

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
To listen back to stuff in Pro Tools it's cheap and good. To record with - totally unusable - To record with - totally unusable
Sound
If we're talking about playing back a pre-recorded Pro Tools track through the Jamlab - The Sound is Amazing But To Record through the Jamlab - absolutley TERRIBLE, can't even get close to a 0.0db level. For listening Great! For Recording - I've never used anything as BAD
Features
There are no features - even with the control panel software cranked up to full input you can barely get a recording level, even if you preamp the signal with a Zoom pedal or something
Quality
Yeah, it's small.
Value
cheap
Manufacturer Support
you can reach the company but they don't know why it's so bad to recoed with, even after replacing the unit several times. My Mbox works on the same system fine.

"An angry owner of JamLab"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It was a mistake to buy it.
Sound
The sound is ok, but I heard much beather. It doesnt sound like pro like some people say.
Features
The program you get with it is preaty crapy.
Ease of Use
It is very easy to use, when ever it works.
Quality
Quality is the worst because I have to reinstall the driver every 5 days, it works fine on for some time, but then it just breaks. I can not fix it for 3 days now, and I am VERY angry.
Value
I would never buy it again.
Manufacturer Support
I sent them a mail some 5 months ago, and they never responded.
The Wow Factor
I dont want it, will send it back.

"Installed it on 3 machines - didn't work on any of them"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Nothing good about it - The software would work without it (using another input device... I have several other units by other companies and I still uninstalled the software and dumped it. (even after returning the jam-lab).
Sound
I suggested a friend get this - he did, it didn't work AT ALL. No guitar input could be heard. We did get the GT software to work and got it to play drum patterns. (the software) the interface seemed defective. (I own and use Guitarport, Toneport and just ordered a black box) The Jam-Lab appears to be junk. The manual was EXTREMELY vague - if not worthless. We called M-Audio support and some rude moron told us that front USB ports aren't as fast as rear ones and to try that. (he's getting paid to tell us this crap?) Back USB didn't work either. sent it back - good riddence!
Features
software - which was fair to poor, also cryptic
Quality
The interface appeared to be junk. You get what you pay for. Spend more and get a toneport or Guitarport (or maybe a black box - mine arrives today)
Value
Junk upgrade to something better.
Manufacturer Support
No response to my emails - (NONE) called them and a rude so called tech tried telling us a bunch of BS about USB ports. (we're using a brand new XPS dell high end computer)
The Wow Factor
pass

M-Audio JamLab USB Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
An excellent tool for pros and beginners.
Sound
Tested with the bundled software - easy to use and sounds great. I use Native Instruments Guitar Combos and jamlab works fine with that too.
Features
Everything you need to start strummin'
Ease of Use
Installed easily and worked with no problems. Don't know what the other guy is on about
Quality
Would have preferred metal, but it would have bumped the price up, so...
Value
The Behringer GUITAR LINK UCG102 may be slightly cheaper, but I was seduced by jamlab's quality
Manufacturer Support
No problems with jamlab, but I own a couple of m-audio products and their support has always been first-rate
The Wow Factor
I want it, I got it!
