Feature:
excellent controls. One design flaw is that when using as monitors, the weight of the speaker sits on the power cord (right where it's connected to the speaker).

Quality:
The big problem is this: When using as MONITORS, there is poor air circulation around the heat sink, and I have had problems with thermal shutdown (which these are designed to do), but this is usually when I had them going fairly loud, with a lot of instrumentation going thru. I finally bought a small fan to place next to each one and that solves the problem. Never any problems when they are sitting upright or on poles. They are very durable. I have the soft cases for mine but they have gotten a lot of use and still look great.

Value:
Only other ones I've tried are the JBL EON's, and the Mackies blow the JBL's away. But the JBL's are cheaper!

Sound:
I'v had mine for about 7 years. I use as mains for 4-5 piece rock band for smaller gigs in conjuction with one Mackie powered 15" sub. They sound really good. They are plenty loud for a small outdoor gig too.

Ease of Use:
Plug and Play. That's why I bought them.

Support:
Never needed repairs. Called Mackie once about connecting my board and they were very helpful. Good website with documentation.

Overall:
Really a fantastic sounding speaker. Too bad about the thermal shutdown, though.

I still can't believe how powerful and clean these are. Even in gigs held in the typical high school basketball gym. You can't use more than about one-fourth of the power otherwise they will be just too LOUD! Almost impossible to get them to distort. How do they do this? Have they rewritten the laws of physics? Why can't anyone else make a speaker like this and give Mackie some competition? I own the 1500 powered sub also, but almost never use it because the bass is so clean and tight on the SRM 450's without it.

I'm putting together a pa system for a rock band and after reading Mackie's literature, you get the feeling that they make a good product. I ordered one of these and after recieving it, everything they say about it is true! It sounds fantastic, and it cranks! Clean powerful accurate sound! I have a powered crate pro audio monitor, and there is no comparison! I can't wait till I can afford to buy another one and a 1500 powered subwoofer!

We are a duo classica/accoustic guitar group. We compared the SRM 450 with JBL 15G2 side by side. While the JBL speaker has a better thumping bass (on D tuning), it sounded less accurate than the Mackie. The JBL sounded a little "boxie" for our taste. The Mackie is clean and has tight bass. It is like they said, it truly sounds like a monitor speaker HR 824. We could not believe how accurate these sounded. They blow away any passive speaker system!!!

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
Feature:
i bought it used and a stand was supplied. It did power down one day and i believe it may have been to hot.once i turned a fan on it there was no problem.MACKIE should take notice of this issue. It was when multi instraments were occupying the unit thru a 200w PA.

Quality:
seems to be made well.reliable but still worry about shutdowns.Defenetly road worthy.

Value:
Worth paying a few bucks more than JBL.The enclosure Seems to be able to take a beating.

Sound:
I use it at a small hall hooked up to a 200w B52 PA.The PA has 2 100w monitors,& i run a line to the MACKIE SRM450 from the subwoofer output. It gives just enough bass and sound to compliment the small PA.The test will be a outdoors event july 3rd,i'll re characterize the sound after this.

Ease of Use:
Its easy to use, manual is very straight forward.Enclosure is built to last.

Support:
Never had to contact company.

Simplifies installations & wiring.

I set my keyboard right on a pair of them for performing so I leave my stand home.

Well balanced for carrying, in spite of the weight.

Plenty of reserve power.

I've been using a pair of JBL EON 10's in my acoustic rig. They're great untill you get into a loud club...then just not enough umph.

I thought I'd try a single larger enclosure. Plugged it in last night and WOW what a difference. Dropped D tuning GROWLS and the vocals are crystal clear....it's a whole new tone and dimension to my music.

You spend money on mixer/effects/processing practice your tunes and forget that if your speakers don't get it to the audience, it doesnt matter.

I'm thrilled to have added this to my music.
