"step up to the BIG MACkie"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
i would really like easy to access power switches... in the front really.
Sound
crisp highs with tight bass. not quite comparable to the crispness of genelec's for example but for the price tag, i wouldn't complain... infact, just use the HF gain.
Features
standard really. it would be nice front panel accessible power switches...
Ease of Use
if you can't set this up without referring to the manual, you're a noob and probably don't have monitors yet.
Quality
well made, no defects really to note. upon breaking the seal and taking them out of the plastic foam wrap, i saw there was minor scuff on the rubber exterior of the woofers. on both of them. i'll take a wild guess and say this has to do with the manufacturing process and does not affect the sound what so ever. packaging was brilliant.
Value
great price for great sound. comparable to monitors twice their price.
Manufacturer Support
can't really comment. never needed yet.
The Wow Factor
hey, i bought em right?

The hum concerns me a little, but I still have some tweaking to do with my studio setup, and overall the sound is beautiful.
Sound
I just got it, and heard Dr. Dre's Chronic 2001 in ways I never heard it before, I was using some old Technics and Bose home theatre speakers, and there is no comparison. Very good frequency response across all ranges, the only reason I gave it a 9 is that it does have some noticable feedback when you have signal going to them but the sound turned down all the way.
Features
The speaker has knobs on the back to control highs and lows, I haven't played with them much yet, but they could be useful during the mixing process.
Ease of Use
It's a simple monitor, and it does what a monitor is supposed to do. The HF and LF switches in the back are useful, but I don't think it's a feature I'll be using much.
Quality
It is very astetically pleasing, and seems to be built solid. I'm very happy with the frequency response.
Value
Worth the price, probably more.
Manufacturer Support
I had to replace this product the first time zzounds.com sent it to me because I wasn't getting sound out of it, they asked me a few questions then emailed me a return UPS shipping label, they also shipped me a new one out before I shipped the old one, which was really nice, I only had to wait 3 days to get the replacement monitor!
The Wow Factor
sleek, all black with a light blue power light. A classy addition to my studio.
