I bought my NEW Mackie HD1521 speakers from ZZ Sounds on Friday on the internet, and they arrived in the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday morning via Fed Ex. The driver just left them on my doorstep without seeing me or anyone signing for them or anything. $2K of speakers sitting on my front porch for 4 hours. Well, that is the ONLY negitive thing I have to say about the experience. ZZ sounds gave me an affordable pay as I play payment plan for 8 months, and it was a hassle free purchase. As for the speakers. F-n WOW. I am a singer in a rock band. When I am not gigged with the band, I DJ, Karaoke, and do sound for other bands. I own a pair of srm1530's, which I love, and a pair or srm450'v1s which I love, and a pair of srm1801's that I am happy with. I usually stack the 1530's on top of the 1801's and the sound has been great. Well, I waited a day and brought my board and some xlr's home to hear the 1521's today. Played music only through them, and they are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard, bar none. These things have an abundance of power, crystal clear and sound fantastic. I have not used them in a live music application yet, but I am going to soon, and will make another review on them when I do. I looked through all the reviews on the new mackie products, and I have to say, I was a little concerned. I had a lot confidance in Mackie Products when Greg was at the helm, and own a lot of mackie gear from when he was involved, but I believe that the quality in some of the gear has dropped since it is not made here in the US and he is not involved any more. I know folks that own the v2's of the 450's and bought one of the new PPM powered mixers used, and sold it 2 weeks later because I hated it, and I thought the sound was lame. A lot of the reviews on the new 3 ways were shakey at best and I have heard the v2 450's myself and thought the sound was lame. EVERY review I read about these speakers was good, so I gave them a shot. I am glad I did. Look, if you are thinking about the v2's, these are very much worth the extra cash, and they come with a 2 year speaker and 3 year electronics warrentee. If you are gonna buy Mackie speakers, you should buy the HD1521's, period. Next weekend, they go under fire with a 5 piece Rock band that I am doing sound for. I will make another post about that experience then. Until then, buy these speakers, and buy them from zzsounds. Everything was 5 stars except value for me, because $2k for a pair of speakers is pricey, and I am pretty cheap. If they were $1500 a pair, I woulda bout 2 or 3 pairs, but in the end, I probably will anyway. They sound that good.
