"These are good speakers for what they are"

These are nice speakers for what they are, which is a speaker system that lies somewhere between high end computer speakers and low end studio monitors. First of all, these sound really good. They're clear and have surprisingly good bass support. That being said, they are not neutral so don't go in thinking that they are. The left and right seem well balanced despite the master/slave configuration and unbalanced inputs. I would not use these in a professional setting but for a home hobbyist who wants good monitoring or to get extra oomph out of your media these are perfect. They come with a wealth of features, none of which seem shoehorned in. The blue tooth connectivity is surprisingly handy, the headphone port is a nice option, the front facing volume control is very convenient, and the included isolation pads are a great bonus. The build quality on these speakers is surprisingly good. Anyway, Know what these are before you buy them but if they fit your needs, these come recommended.
Sound
Sounds clean and has good bass response. These are not flat response monitors, they definitely have their biases but overall they sound good.
Features
Bluetooth is surprisingly handy as is the volume control. The headphone jack is cool but I'd stick with the one on your interface if you are using one. Isolation pads are very useful.
Ease of Use
Plus and play, couldn't be easier.
Quality
Build quality is good, these seem sturdy and like they will last but of course I've only had them a couple weeks.
Value
These speakers are reasonably priced for their market, especially considering the features.
Manufacturer Support
Have not dealt with the manufacturer but zZounds has been great!
The Wow Factor
I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of these speakers, for what they are they definitely over-deliver!

"Powered Speaker Select Switch Flaw"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

I've had these monitors for 3 years now, and a common defect has been shared by other purchasers of these monitors that I am now experiencing. The Powered Speaker Select Switch has a flaw on the mainboard that overheats and degrades over time until the unit no longer works. I am over warranty on these and no support from Mackie to address this issue. Moving to another product. When these did work, it produced nice sound.

Musical Background:

Home studio musician. I've played music from cello, guitar, bass and keyboards for 45 years.
