Feature:
I am quite satisfied with the features, though I would have liked more inserts. This would have increased the price no doubt.
Quality:
I am really disappointed here. The board has never worked properly. I have had it into two different repair shops (for considerable amounts of money) and there is still a problem. The most recent tech I spoke with informed me that the 1642 had a bad run of chips and he has seen a lot of them in his shop.
Value:
Not worth what I paid for it. I would look elsewhere if I were to buy again and I will probably try and sell this one and go with another company, possibly Soundcraft.
Desirability:
I was quite attracted to it in the beginning until the hype was replaced by the frustration and disappointment.
Sound:
Not bad sound for a mixer. Mic pre's ok but I get better results with an ART Tube pre.
Support:
I sent in my registration and warrenty card, plus extended warranty and have never heard back from the company. My unfortunate circumstance is that going through a divorce I have not had access to a studio space and ended up using the 1642 only rarely, and when I did it failed regularly. I would get it repaired, put it away until I could get at a project (after getting it repaired) and it would fail again. I finally (within the month) got my studio up and running again only to find out that (now) channel 4 no longer works.
Overall:
I would not buy another.
