Feature:
Has the best hardware I've seen. I bought a snare stand 2 mos. ago for $45 that is no where near the quality of the Ludwig. The stand looks to be a $75 or more quality by itself. I wouldn't want to think how much the hardware would have cost (in real time) if bought separately at this level of look/feel quality. It is very good.
Also came with enough nylon washers for the bass drum too (was concerned about that)
Quality:
Top o' the Line. No questions asked. Best Bang for the Buck.
Remember reading about this guy that had a pair of 70's Ludwigs that said this kit topped the Chicago Built Ludwigs in quality. He also mentioned other improvements, and that the hardware was 'beyond Heavy-Duty'.
I Love It!!!
Value:
I challenge anyone to make a better drumset and sell it this inexpensively and not jerk us on the quality.
GREAT JOB, LUDWIG!! (Even if it is Chinese made!)
Desirability:
Like I said, make a kit like this and sell it.
It's what everyone wants at a price point they can afford.
Great Deal.
Sound:
This is the best set for the $$!
Features are top notch for the mid-range set.
True the heads could be better, but for what you get......
Upgraded from a set of Groove Percussions...the lil' blue $279 kit.
It was shot!
You really see/know the difference good hardware makes.
I have had no trouble with the bass drum stands. Mine are thick, well braced and have a deadly spiked end that will hold to the floor and not let go. Serious! Also came with a pair of xtra legs....that look like the thin ones everyone was complaining about....but I might be asking someone what they are for. I'm missing nothing, so.
Ease of Use:
Small learning curve on the heads, but you get decent heads with this kit. Sure they're not 'Evans', so you wait for that guitar center sale at half off, and being it's July '06, guess what's on sale this month. Get 'em while you can.
Support:
Ha.
I'm 15 minutes away from Monroe, NC.
If I need anything, "Come On Down" they said.
That's the best support you can get!!
Overall:
It should last years.
The tom mounts are no problem, and if you looked hard enough in that bag of lugs, there were three line threads that go in between the rubber mounts and the rim to give you some leveling help if needed.
They screwed right on the lug, so they fit perfectly.
Would have liked all of the date codes in the drums to match, but for 3 boxes that would've been a chore for the store to sort out.
I got bass/tom dated 08/05, then the toms'snare are dated 05/06,
but everything matches...no problem.
