Feature:
Hundreds of modeled presets to go with whatever custom setup you can come up with on your own. Many presets are variations on overdrive, which has its uses, but not if metal isn't your thing. Built-in FX are OK except for tremolo, which, after daily amp use for weeks, still seems lame to me.
Quality:
Good quality for the money. Cabinet is sturdy, looks good, Celestion speaker handles whatever I've thrown at it. Not even a hint of a glitch with the electronics. Digital modeling is probably the wave of the future, and Line6 has done that part right.
Value:
Great bang for your amplifier buck. Good sound straight-up, plenty of FX, power for most situations, and volume aplenty. It looks like lots of other amps, but I paid for performance, and looks don't matter in that category.
Desirability:
If versatility in terms of sound or playing style is important to you, the Line6 Spiders deserve consideration. The sheer number of FX available is fun to play around with, and you're sure to find at least a handful that you'll want to use often.
Sound:
Good sound quality - plenty crunchy when that's what you want, enough distortion to make your ears ring, and squeaky-clean when that's what you want. Plenty of volume for any but really big rooms (and you'll be using their sound system if that's the case anyway). Some settings sound a little bit "reedy" to me, but overall it's solid.
Ease of Use:
Tons of features, but not all that easy to use. Setting up your own sound is easy and straightforward - dial in what you want, play it, and tweak from there. Using the modeled presets ought to be MUCH easier than it is. If you know you like preset 'x,' it'll take you 10 minutes to find it, and finding it doesn't get any easier or faster with use.
Support:
Don't really know - haven't had to deal with them.
Overall:
The Line6 Spider III has features my other amp, which is 15 years old, can't match. It's solidly constructed and produces good tone and volume. It's not as easy to use some of the features as it ought to be, but the features are there, nonetheless, if you want to use 'em.
