"MIND BLOWING"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
First of all, Im a drummer who has been playing guitar almost as long as drums(30+yrs). Im a highly versatile schooled musician, been through practically every genre. I thought Id just about heard it all -til now. When I got this head Id been playing thru an old red face 50 watt spider combo, and almost never switched off the insane setting. Now I hardly touch it. The amp has so many settings that it would be unimaginable that a player couldnt find a tone he (or she) would like.
Sound
The sound quality is phenominal. The amp has incredible depth, and remains completely consistent no matter where or how its used. The "models" are extremely close to the originals, but spend a bit of time going thru each setting and you'll surely end up with a sound you'll claim as your own.
Features
I switch back and forth thru the models, usually sticking to the overdriven, hi-gain settings. I mainly play a Washburn Dimebag, K model w/ Buz Feiten, Bill Lawrence L500xl bridge, stock neck p-ups, 400 watt Carvin stereo 4-12 cab. I have yet to find any features that arent useful. I dont mess with the cabinet models, and with what Im playing thru why would I?
Ease of Use
Its as easy as turning a knob, and the head highly compliments my equipment AND my playing style(self-taught). The tones I get are brutal, over the top, pure metal. I will say its easily the most ballsy amp Ive EVER heard or played thru.
Quality
I just got the thing, so I can't really comment on this section too much. I own other L6 products, and they are definitely well made. I would say that with the face being chrome-plate one could obviously scratch it up if not taken care of, but I love this ho so much that no one is allowed to touch it !
Value
I payed $350.00 for this head, which is probably the deal of a lifetime considering just how many settings it has, and the previous owner kept it looking brand new.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed them.
The Wow Factor
This head has it all - wicked looks and tones, not too heavy, no tubes to bonk out. I haven't ever seen a head that looked better, it puts on its own light show, and chrome plated too? If anyone reading this plays seriously, DO NOT EVER pass on the chance to check this thing out.

Sound
REALLY brings out the nuances and differences from guitar to guitar. VERY detailed, and can be IRRITATINGLY so until you "iron out" the EQ for your particular rig/guitar/cabinet combo...
Features
JUST what I needed! Not too many bells and whistles, but WAY more than you'd think by looking at the panel. For example, you can change cabinets by pushing in and turning the amp model knob! Soo much is here!
Quality
It aint' tubes, but you won't be changing the glass every 6 months, either!
Value
Perhaps a little overpriced for a solid-state unit, but I guess we're paying for the R&D... ; )
Manufacturer Support
I have no experience with this except through their website. I've owned LOTS of Line 6 products, and still have an Original POD Pro, which has worked GREAT and never required service...

"Great for active musicians who play anything from pop to metal."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will replace with a KB37 simply for the fact that I only use it for recording. If I did not have a favorite live rig already then I would use this for both.
Sound
It truly does sound great, not tube great though. Clean channels can be quite amazing.
Features
Tons of different features although... one of the footboards are required to make it probable in a live setting.
Ease of Use
Very easy for the most part. You must use the computer software to setup mic emulation which is a small bummer.
Quality
I had one issue so far that was my fault (beer in amp = bad). Aside from that the screen on my footpedal died. That is not a bad point for the HD147 but is for Line6.
Value
With all the different tones at your fingertips you cannot go wrong if you need all this power. I use mine for recording (not live) and it is overkill.
Manufacturer Support
Have not used it...
The Wow Factor
For a live rig, with stereo XLR outs it is an engineers dream.

"This amp head will SMOKE almost any amp of it's nature , Believe that !!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I won't search for another amp , I have the sound i've always wanted , I'm 35 and been playing guitar for 21 years, So far NO amp has caught my attention more than this one , Not even the VETTA II, In fact i really want to by a back up , Just in case something happens to this one , Lets face it , "Nothing Lasts Forever", I play a modern melodic heavy metal style of music and this amp can go even beyond my realm ...
Sound
Let me tell you something , HANDS DOWN this is the best sounding amp head on the market for the money . You can accomplist anything from Blues, Country,Classic Rock, Rock,Hard Rock, Punk Rock,Heavy Metal,Thrash Metal, And yes even Death Metal, Your average Marshall JCM 800 is far from accomplishing this... KRANK amps may give them a run for the gain sounds , But you will still need some kind of external effects to catch up to what the HD 147 contains .......
Features
I never see anybody rating the the capabilities of the back of this amp , Threw Midi, I've connected this head to my PC, Installed Line 6 Edit and your options to this amp are basically endless, The interface looks just like the front of the amp , You can control an aray of things from the software, Hmm can Marshall amps , Krank amps, Or to mention any other amp do this ? NOT to my knowledge, The direct out is just extraordinary, When connected to a mixer , And ran into a Pro Tools arrangement ...
Ease of Use
The only gripe i have on this amp is that without useing the software , I can see where someone might run into a little confusion, But with a little patience you'll hit that sweet sound guarenteed ...
Quality
This amp is built like a tank , I am extremely carefull around mine, just simply because i look forward to having this thing working prestinely for years to come . And i trust it will.....
Value
At a glance the price is a little steep , But after owning this amp and seeing what it is capable of , Well worth the money , If your a serious musician ...
Manufacturer Support
Im gonna rate this a 9 seeings i haven't had to use it yet .
The Wow Factor
Man , This amp has a "CHROME" Chassis , I've had people compliment just that image alone ....

"The Heavy Metal Amp of the 21st Century!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am overall very satisfied with this product. It may cost an arm and a leg, but this is definitely worth the expense. Line 6 once again delivers a great amp. They gotta use all of these models on their Vetta!
Sound
The sound quality of these amp models is just astounding. The cleans are just superb and the distorted models are just plain heavy. Line 6 never done anything like this before and it's about time they did.
Features
Contains a bunch of great heavy amp models. If only it contained Line 6's other heavy amp models like the JMP-1 or the Rectifiers. It also needs better reverb, more modulation and delay effects, an effects loop that can handle both stompboxes and rack equipment, and even some synth effects. Then it would be complete.
Quality
If it's Line 6, you bet it has good quality. This is definitely built to last!
Value
This product is worth every penny. Why go for just one kind of amp sound when you can work with several of them. This is by far the king of heavy metal amps.
Manufacturer Support
Line 6 is the best in terms of support. They really know what they are doing. If only they would fire their accountant so their products were cheaper to buy.
The Wow Factor
This thing is the coolest looking amp on the planet (well, almost). You gotta love those black lights on the inside. This is not an amp - it's a rrrrrrrrr institution!

"Hate this amp"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I have an Ibanez with Evolution pickups and the sound is very good.
Features
I liked how easy it was to change amp models and cab models. There seemed to be an almost endless combonation.
Ease of Use
Fair, but you'll find yourself reading the manual.
Quality
Well, I'm one of the unlucky ones. It's as if my fell off the back of the shipping truck. I have multiple Major problems. 1) All of the stereo effects didn't work right: they were all mono and corrupted. However, they worked with headphones. 2)Mine always shocks you. Not a sudden shock, but a constant steady unending electrocution. 3)About once every hour I hear this incredibly loud POP!! and all the lights on the amp go off and on.
Value
It took me a whole to save up for this amp, because I have rent, truck payment, etc... This was a major let-down.
Manufacturer Support
Their tech-support will remind you of when have computer problems and you call the tech-support and they tell you to run disc-defrag and a scandisk. Of course that never fixes anything. First, they said that the popping sound must be my guitar cord, though I had tried about 8 different cords. Then, they said that I must have a bad power supply in the house. However, I've used this amp at many different houses and had the same problems. Anyway, it was under warranty. Problem solved right??? Um no... There wasn't a electronics shop anywhere in my area that fixed Line6 amps. So, the tech-support said I needed to send it to Lee Summit Missouri wich was about 300 miles away. I didn't have time for that and I decided to pawn for $400.

A Great amp, compares well to Mesa, Bogner, Diezel, and Marshall.
Sound
It's absolutely astonishing. I didn't think that tube tone was posible through a computer!
Features
So many features, so little time.
Quality
It will be a great buy if you dont want to buy 20 amps and a room full of pedals.
Value
Great Value.
