I have a Motif 8 (at work), a Yamaha S80, and an Alesis DG8 (at home). The real hammer effect is WONDERFUL on the T/S 88. It really reacts like a piano. Yet is NOT slow and clumsy. It reminds me of the Motif 8 action but it is heavier in the bass and lighter in the higher notes. When you play the new Piano sample, you forget you are playing an electronic instrument. You actually hear the keys just like when you play a grand. It is sampled from the player's point of view. Cool!
I have had varied experience with sequencers and the Korg Triton Studio has the easiest sequencer to use. It is a no brainer!
I give it a four on value because I feel for the price, it should have included a cd-burner. Laptops cost even less and include cd-burner. After shelling out all of that money, you don't want to be nickle and dimed too death: cd-burner, memory upgrade, expansion cards, pedal.
You can't go wrong with this keyboard is you are searching for the ultimate 88 key workstation. If you are a pianist by heart (I am), you will be more than pleased with the realist feel.
If you are making beats and are used to unweighted boards, you may need to use a controller for the drums and other instruments. I midi my MPC and other boards for this.
This is strictly a studio keyboard. Too heavy and delicate to carry around with its touch-screen, hard drive, and cd-burner and over 80 pounds.
I love the MIDI capabilities, expansion options, SCSI included, and multi-saving options: hard drive, floppy, scsi, and cd-burner.
I almost bought the regular Triton ProX but I found after buying the SCSI option, no hard drive, slower operating system, no digital ins and outs, the Triton Studio was a better investment and the expansion options plus included extra piano sounds and new weighted action helped me to make up my mind. This keyboard is wonderful! Buy one today!
