zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
Feature:
Plenty of features and editing capabilities. It would be pretty much impossible for one person to use every feature this synth has.

Quality:
Seems to be built excellently. I bought mine used, and everything seems to be in very good shape still.

Value:
I think this is valued very well considering everything you can do with it.

Desirability:
Looks pretty nice, but of course it could always be cooler.

Sound:
All of the sounds sound great...except any of the "authentic pianos" All of the others sound warm and full. There are great sounds for pretty much any type of music. The combinations stand out especially.

Overall:
I have had this piece for about a week now, and i am just starting to skim the surface of some of the things this beast can do. Now that i have it, I couldn't imagine living without it. I would definatly replace it if i needed too because of the great sounds, and huge expansion capabilities. 8 fricken slots is awesome!

I own a fully loaded Triton rack and this gear kicks some bot now. Load it with all the available expansion boards and you'll have more banks than you can dream of. I also own a XV5080 Roland but I find the Triton samples more realistic, just compare the GM banks on both gears and you'll know what I am talking about. However, both gears are very complementary, I don't think that they compete with each other in my studio.

The few complains I have are 1) the digital output does not match the XV5080. You can't choose the clock speed (44.1/48K) and/or cranck up the volume (+6/12db) like on the Roland. 2) It took me a good hour to figure out how to load the expansion board banks into the EXT bank memory (vs INT banks). Once you do you can get rid of the floppies.

BTW, let me know if you need the instrument definition for SONAR. It took me 2 days but I have now all internal and expansion sounds available right from SONAR.

This gear is the first one that you should buy.

Feature:
I didn't do my home work. I assumed that it would intergrate with my 01X perfectly through MLAN...I was wrong. However the golden rule is never ass...u....me anything! It makes an ASS out of U and ME!

Quality:
I got mine second hand and well used and after a year of me using it and my 1 year old lately giving it a good bash I have no probs to report.

Value:
Once I got over the MLAN thing I love it.

Desirability:
Looks the part and plays the part

Sound:
This box sounds amazing. I love it.

Support:
I got the factory disks seny out in a jiffy!

Overall:
I'd give it a 9 but I can't get over the MLAN thing!

This beast is second to none, if you own a Trinity by all means keep it, the Triton doesn't necessarily replace it, but they'll definitely coexist with each other... The sounds of the Triton is rich, full, warm, and expressive...

Feature:
I can't think of anything missing in this 2U rack - it's all there for you to play with, and beyond.

Quality:
Korg builds solid boxes.

Value:
The overall features and quality are so many that there's hardly another rack out there to touch it. Once you have expansion boards installed (and have found your way round to handling / programing) this rack will keep you happily playing for many years to come!

Sound:
You can make it sound just the way you want - as far as romplers go, this is right up there - and I'm not even mentioning the expansion boards yet.....! My only gripes are: the "metallic" feel on all accoustic guitar sounds, the "hacked-up" feelling of the arpeggios (even after editing) and virtually useless accoustic piano sounds. But hey - what's your favourite blend of coffee....!?!

Support:
Not required

Overall:
I've sold mine again - the little time I have available for playing was used up for programming and reading manual instead. This does however in no way diminish this unit's unbelieveable amount of features and high-quality sounds.

Most patches have to much reverb on them. If you listen to pro recordings they might have half the reverb the Triton has. I think they want the average buyer to listen to -bigsounds-to help sell the product. Overall though I like it better than my Roland XV 5080,and its faster to work with than my S5000(Akai).

I was alittle disappointed to discover that the Triton rack doesn't have the same quality of samples as the Trinity rack. I traded up due to the open ended architecture of the Triton so I'm not too upset about this discovery but seeing that I spent well over $2,000, you'd think the Triton would KILL the Trinity with respect to sonic quality and to my ears it doesn't.

the sounds on this module arent all that. I make alot of rnb and hip hop and thought this would really have some fat sounds....but i only ended up using a couple of the patches. basically this ia just a beefed up GM module. even the best bass sound (dark rnb bass) didnt translate in the mix when i transferred it into pro-tools...no low end. if you buy one, buy it for the arco strings and stereo strings. they are the best patches of strings ive heard in any module. otherwise than that its not a very inspiring module; the sounds are now played out from a "modern production" standpoint; and there must be one chip inside cause it weighs like .00002 ounces...and from what i know heavy stuff usually sounds better :_)
