Sound:
I bought this as a portable unit that could fit in my pocket when travelling. It works well for that purpose and has a nice collection of amps and sounds. Like most other units, some sounds are better than others, but what is really cool is the sound editor that comes with it. I use it on my laptop with the unit and I can pretty much tweak each sound how I want it so that where a preset sound is too muddy for my taste, I can dial back some of the gain or reverb or dial in a little delay accordingly. Very versatile unit which has the great benefit of a loop for rehearsing phrases or licks. Works great for late night practice, or in the hotel room.
Feature:
For the price of the unit, the adapter should be included. This has to be bought separately which is a real bummer as far as I am concerned. It can however be powered up by the USB or 3 batteries.
Ease of Use:
The interface of the sound editor works very well. Great for tweaking to get the right sound. If you don't use the editor and just use the unit, be prepared to figure out the different functions which are not too easy in the beginning. The manual is ok but could do with more lucid explanations.
Quality:
The product is well made. Compact but solid. However, I think they need to design the input and output to be on the side or the bottom of the unit because you have to pretty much read the unit upside down when you plug the cable and headphone in, unless you have the unit on the floor which looks silly.
Value:
Even if the adapter were to be included (which it is not), the product is overpriced. I would put it at a value of just over half of what it is currently being sold for.
Manufacturer Support:
Not the best. Basically, very little after product support.
The Wow Factor:
I think the product looks cool and is nice and compact, like having an amp in your pocket.
Overall:
If something comes along that is better for the right price I would most probably buy it. I would wear this out for the purpose I bought it - only for travel and late night practice.

Sound:
The various effects may not be quite as good as larger and more expensive models, but all that I need is there.
Feature:
Amazing for its size
Ease of Use:
Relatively easy to learn.
Quality:
Seems to be well constructed. I have only had it for a month in home stidio use.
Value:
A lot of good effects in a small package make this a good value for me.
Manufacturer Support:
No contact with Korg has been necessary
The Wow Factor:
The best feature is that the unit can be kept at a height that is comfortable to use since it does not require bending over to change settings on the floor as is necessary in most effect modules. It can still use pedals for effects by plugging them into the unit. If you buy this you need to have the ac adaptor since battery life is pretty low, especially if the backlight is used.
Overall:
I beleive the use of technology in bringing the size of this unit down so much that it can be carried in you pocket is amazing. I use it in my studio, but it also allows me to play anywhere with earphones. The drum machine function has plenty of programs to enable practice with a wide range of beats by drum and bass. Changeable bass key is very useful when practicing in the actual key you will be performing in.

Sound:
Use this unit mainly for bass playing. Bass playing doesn't require lots of effects, so I would say overall am please with the bass effects. Makes my not so high end bass guitar sounds much better. Fretless effect, though, could be better.
Feature:
Liked USB port for recording and sound edit. Drum kit is OK (not to compete with dedicated drum machines), but execellent practice tool, which I use a lot. Tuner comes in handy. Quick button access to 4 patches (A,B,C,D) is great. More than sufficient for a bass gig. Loved bass cancellation feature -- can jam along easily with songs input from any MP3 player through the AUX in. Able to shift pitch too! USB recording works (though my laptop produces hum due to ground loop...no fault on PX5D)
Ease of Use:
Simple to use. Sound programming best done with editor. Didn't need the manual much after first few references.
Quality:
Feels plastic. But no cracks yet. Unlike pedal, doesn't have to be built like a tank since you are not stepping on it.
Value:
Product is really unique, not a whole lot out there now. I was looking for a compact and light, easy to easy, good sounding, bass effect box that will also function as tuner, trainer and provide drum patterns for practice. Met all of my expectations. Wished it came with power supply. At this price range, should throw that in. Had countless fun hours with it.
Manufacturer Support:
haven't contact yet. No comments.
The Wow Factor:
Easy to use is what I'm looking for...who cares what it looks like? It's probably hidden before your music stand if you gig with it.
Overall:
Love it. Would buy it again if lost or spoilt (hopefully by then PX6D?!!)...have used it extensively for about a year now. Great product.

Sound:
There are some single pedal, special purpose units with a limited number of effects, some of which may sound marginally better. However, this unit has very good effects accross the board. You will be astounded at the overall qulaity of effects on your first use of the PX5D.
Feature:
The unit has no hardware accessories except for the power adapter but it has a computer sound editor which operates in conjunction with the PX5D via USB. The best feature by far is the ability to control your effects with convenient placement of the PX5D. The conrols can be at your finder tips as opposed to multi-effect pedal based units that require you to bend down to floor level to adjust effects. Another advantage of having the PX5D at your finger tips is that you are close enough to easily read the display. Many floor units are too far away to read. One small disadvantage may be that the buttons and other controls are small out of necessity to keep the entire package small. It is so small and light that you can easily carry it around in a shirt chest pocket. Another issure for some is that it does not have a pedal, but one can always add pedals and switches in series with the unit.
Ease of Use:
As with any electronic device meant to produce a wide variety of sounds, there is a learning curve, be it is not too steep. A few of the buttons and controls have multiple purposed depending upon what mode is being used. Accordingly, sometimes it is easy to forget the mode and you will be adjusting a function unintentially. This is easily corrected, but can confuse the new user until more familiarity
with the device as been attained.
Quality:
The PX5D is well made. I believe the guts are housed within a mostly metal case. Most controls are made with a soft rubber surface and are relatively firm with a feel that generally lets you know whether the switch has made contact when pushed. The LCD screen is fairly easy to read with the internal backlight, but the buttons are not lit, so it may require an additional small light, such as a small portable book light, when used in low light circumstances. I have used my PX5D with the power adapter almost daily for over two years and it shows no sig of wear. I also have not noticed any degradtion of sound.
Value:
Given the this small unit produced so many high quality effects and effect combinations; can be carried around in your pocket; serve as a small amplifier with all the effects when used with earphones; and all at a price of $180; it is, in my opinion an unbelievable value.
Manufacturer Support:
I have never needed support.
The Wow Factor:
I think it is a bit sick for zZounds to ask me to rate the "sex appeal" of this product. I believe it is a technological wonder to have such a small box producing so many quality effects and a good idea having all of its abilities available at your fingertips instead of on the floor. The proximity of its placement also vastly improves the ability to read the LCD screen. However, there is no sexual appeal. Also, I do not want it because I have it.
Overall:
I think there would need to be some other kind of technological break through to cause obsolesence in the PX5D. I have owned one for over a couple of years. If it broke tomorrow, I would probably aquire another one just like it as soon as possible. However, I would check to see if other possibilities would be a better alternative. If I were still playing profesionally, I would have one or two units available with duplicate presets to swap in the event of a failure.
A thought: Given how small this unit is, its circuits/programming/memory could easily be reduced to a chip that could be quickly replaced like a compact flash card is replaced in a digital camera. It would need to be easily replaced so a guitar would not have to be taken out of service to be repaired. The guitarist should be able to make backup cards to carry to gigs and one to stay at home.

"This is a awesome product with great sound quality and endless sounds. The creation is yours create your own style what ever you" submitted October 5, 2011

Sound:
This is an amazing product there are endless choices. The sound quailty is great too I havent found a better product that is portable. The sound is great while playing it was just what I was looking for you can jam by yourself and have other instruments back you up as if you where playing in a band or you can jam with your friends and use some sounds to add to your style.Or you can just us for an amp which is great too the choice is yours and its endless and you can record with the software and it can also teach you how to play chords...
Feature:
no..all..it should come with the footswitches and the adapter cause those are all extra.
Ease of Use:
The manual is great and the sound quality is great too..Its pretty easy to use and its a matter of what your preference is whether you like rock jazz hip hop or classical this product can be used for every instrument and you can add your own style.
Quality:
The product could be made alittle better it is made well but the plastic body could of been constructed better.just afraid of dropping it due to the plastic metal would of been better other then that this product is great and appropriate for on the road.
Value:
yes very much so..
Manufacturer Support:
not yet hopefully the product will stand up to its quality.
The Wow Factor:
Its compact in size is great and great for traveling its truly an awesome product its used alot and this addition is used more ofted then more expesive equipment.
Overall:
Dont expect to get bored with it or search for another product for awhile I am very happy with this product.I would replace this product if it was lost or stolen. I like the whole product I dont like that it has plastic on the outer body and that you have to buy the adapter and foot switches.
Sound:
Sounds are okay. Definetly need tweeking.
Feature:
gave it a slight bump for the usb capabilities. but recording with this thing is no good. not powerful enough to run a track of guitar and midi drums at the same time without constant cut outs. really dissappointed by the sampling time to for recording internally. 100 secs not a lot of time to do anything great.
Ease of Use:
you have to read the manual to get around this thing for sure
Quality:
seems solid enough. wouldn't want to drop it though
Value:
i probably wouldn't have bought it if i knew how crippled it was on the usb. a cheapo toneport does the same job of recording. haven't messed with tweeking patches directly via usb yet.
Manufacturer Support:
haven't needed it so far.
The Wow Factor:
would be good to get some rough ideas out fo the way but only 100 secs max sample time recording internally isn't enough to flesh out a whole song.
Overall:
i guess i was dissappointed because i had high expectations. this bit of kit seemed like a songwriters dream for a while but i can't say its helped much. i think this thing should go for a 100 bucks cheaper.
