I had wanted to get one when I saw it in a magazine a few weeks ago, so I went to my local music store, and played around with it for about a half hour. Within the first five minutes I had already made a couple patterns with my own sounds. It is EXTREMELY easy to use. I think it's worth the money definatly. I've only had it for a few days and I'm certainly happy with how it's performed so far. I think its worth the money. I plan on buying the ER-1 as soon as I get some more money.

I had bought an Electribe A when they first came out before they got big. It was really cool but at the time it didn't do the stuff i wanted to do, like whole tracks and rhythm. So i sold it, :-( and i bought an RM1X and that machine is great, i will buy another Electribe this summer and use it as a sound module. I loved it and I let it go.

Feature:
It could really use more levels of distortion (like virus) and an LFO

Quality:
The knobs seem pretty standard and are solid. But still has an overall feel of low qualityness.

Value:
200 would seem better fit

Sound:
Regardless of its hardware limitations, this thing has a seemingly infinite sea of sounds that require incatrate computer control to unlock (software sequencer).

Support:
Tried forever to get sysex specs... had to reverse engineer w/ midiox

Overall:
I have found a few "ranges" of superb sound that is extremly close to that found in professionl quality beats.

The ea1 is great for making phat basslines, and smoked out background noises...I use it with my roland 303 and it makes the "nintendo" sounds of the 303 sound a little more respectable...

believe it or not since i have gotten this synth I find myself using it not only as a bass/pattern maker like most but find myself using the "keyboard" for live play. I love the fact that it is an analog synth that quite literaly fits in my backpack and sounds full enough to be a REAL instrument when sitting in with a band-

The Korg Electribe Ea is an awsome piece of musical equipment. It takes a little fiddling to figure out how everything works and how it is supposed to go but when me an my band got a hold of one it took our sound and inspiration to a whole new level. Also we use the Es which is a very handy sampler/drum machine and may be linked midi to another electribe and/or keyboard, sequencer, drum module, or pc.

This box intrigued me from the day I saw it, no menus, just friendly knobs! I got down to playing with it, a little confused from the lack of the standard keyboard, and finally realized it had one built in with the 16 64-step-sequencer pads! 256 save spots for your sounds/patterns, just plain fun to tweak with.

The EA-1 makes some really mad sounds and is pretty easy to use. The pre-programmed sounds are enough to get you started, but are completely unnecessary. I have found that this machine works best as a live tool...I program patterns and sounds that I had created in software synthesizers such as ReBirth and Reason into here and am able to run sequences live much easier than something on a computer. One of the biggest drawbacks comes with recording phrase motions with the knobs, I can't seem to get it to do anything complex with more than one knob (even when recording the motions for each knob separately). Perhaps I'm just a little too spoiled on software synthesizers. Another drawback for me was that when I use the EA-1 as a slave in a MIDI setup, some sounds end up sounding warped...it's very touchy when it comes to having its tempo controlled externally. I would imagine that this would not be a problem if sync'ed with other Korg tools such as the ER-1.

I never considered buying the ea, it seemed like a toy. No envelope, no lfo, etc. But then I tried it in the shop and i must say... i love it and i bought it. The sounds are really good, but i think it's a bit personal. Either you love it or you hate it. It has a typical sound, wich i find great!!!

I love this machine. It's super easy to use, mega-powerful sound. Sync it up to an ER-1 or ES-1 and you've got the tools to move a crowd.
