Features , Sound Quality , and overall ease of use makes this a must get for anyone looking for a good project digital studio.
Sound
The sound quality is excellent, best I have heard in this price range. Having the analog compressors on the input channels really helps. I actually dumped tracks from my 1880 onto this unit and those tracks are sounding much better through this unit.
Features
Some of the features I like are the usb port to dump either backup files or the exporting or importing of wave files. The tilt up LCD screen is also nice as you can change the angle of the screen. The touch screen is also very nice. It makes maneuvering through the function a breeze. However they have also added some knobs for some features like panning and tweaking effects and EQ that help make this unit enjoyable.
Quality
Overall the construction of the unit is excellent. Much more steel than plastic, which of course makes the unit a bit heavier. That kind of puts a damper on those who want to travel with the unit.So it is suggested that if you plan to travel with the unit, contact a case supplier that will custom build one for you. My only other pet peave with the unit is the CDRW drive. The drive is use is the type that is used on Laptops. These type of CDR Drive are not very sturdy and I do worry about how long the CDR will last.It would have rather seen the installation of a stand CDR drive similar to the one used in their D1600 model.
Value
Although you can find 16 track Digital Workstations cheaper than this. You can not find units of this quality and with the type of feature that this unit has.
Manufacturer Support
Have not deqlt with the compay yet.

"AWESOME STUFF"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I suppose if you could plug a monitor in it would be a nice touch.
Sound
Crystal clear playback. You can just hear the difference a 24-bit 96khz mix sounds. The transport controls take you from A to B virtually instantaneously. The brushed aliminium surface is pleasing to the eye and feels professional. This machine, is professional. I sit hear and listen back to an awesome mix, held together with quality compression, and smooth automation
Features
The product came with no accessories, but for the value for money means this is no issue.
Quality
This is professional quality. The effects are very good, but obviously, if you can afford outboard, or software effects, do this as well, also a PC is ideal for exchanging .WAV files back and forth. The structure and sturdiness of this unit make it a steal at the price - and the best digital recorder i've heard this side of the big protools systems!!
Value
Apsolutely 10 out of 10. Warm sounding, apsolute clarity of sound, beautfiul.
Manufacturer Support
Korg.co.uk/Korg.usa - are great, explain the system well in the manual documentation, provide clear instructions on installing updates etc..
The Wow Factor
Very sexy, orgasmic.

"More than I expected"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I would buy it again if it was stolen. However, if I had the money then I would perhaps go for the brother of it, the D32XD, to have more effect power.
Features
The analogue compressor was a real surprise and comes along with great out-of-the-box presets (e.g. a pre-configured bass-drum compression).
Quality
No problems until now. For use on the road (live recording now and then) I will go for a good flight-case. But digital multitrackers are not made for the stage, anyway.
Value
You can have a digital 16 or even 20 track recorder for half the price, but in my case the cheaper device (Tascam 2488) did not do what it was supposed to do.

Korg D16XD Multitrack Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll be using this for a long time to come. I hope some expandsions can be purchased in the future. I love this thing.
Sound
The sound is top quality for the price!
Features
The Pre's, and the 4 band EQ are taking the sound adjustment and desired clarity to a new level. Analog Rules!
Quality
Sturdy. Great effects and compression for the price range. Well constructed and friendly. It just needs labels on the top of the unit to identify inputs in the rear, so you dont have to look behind the unit to access the rear.
Value
I'm a bargain shopper. I would have bought this thing the release day if it was originally the current price. Korg missed bigtime to other workstation recorders. This thing should have been a studio standerd.
Manufacturer Support
Dont need it with this unit. It'I'm an idiot, and I figured out moderarly difficult functions immediatly. For begginers and pro's. If you have wanted to commit suicide trying to get the Tascam to cut and paste. This will change your mind. Come back to the light!s that easy!
The Wow Factor
I got it! Throw your Tascam out the window. Papa's got a brand new bag!

only real complaints is having to pay for extra equipment that is necessary for certain applications
Sound
great sound cant beat it at this price
Features
very good features only complaint is it needs motorized faders to match the scene automation it gets tricky if your recalling a project you have to try to bring the faders to the recalled location and you also have to buy the input board for inputs 9-16 which i think should be standard
Quality
very well made sturdy construction more metal than plastic
Value
great value for all features included and quality of connections such as the pre amps
Manufacturer Support
have not needed it
The Wow Factor
very sexy but practical gets the job done and more
