Feature:Built-in quartz pickup, connects to amp directly. No pre-amp inside the guitar means it does not require a battery. But the drawback is you need to use a high-impedence amp or DI box, otherwise it will sound too sharp and has to be EQ'ed. Most guitar amps proably won't need a lot of EQ, but an amp with FET input would be more desirable.

I have always wanted an Ovation but could never afford one. Had I known that an Applause plays and sounds the way it does it would not have taken me as long to have own one. It is a great sounding guitar and the action is incredible. The feel of the neck is remarkable. The only problem is the round back and trying to relax and play is difficult.
