Being a beginner with out a lot of money for trial and error the tube screamer was my only choice. I've only tried it to make sure it functioned , as that's about as far as my talent goes so far. But I did a lot of surfing the inter web as research before my purchase, and it always ended up at the tube screamer for that true pushed tube vibe. So seeing the hand wired limited run at my favorite online music store I ordered me up one on a payment plan, for future use ;) . So I guess there's not much substance to my review from a players point of view. But I can say it's not a flimsy piece of equipment , i dont know if it's worth the hefty price but my feeling is I won't be disappointed . Come with a cool steel collectors case with a cut out foam insert to tuck your pedal away in. I imagine most won't have any use for that but it's cool and I have mine in it lol. Most know what they're getting when they buy one , so , this is just a fancy hand made version of the original lol

I'm an advanced player(25 yrs. exp.), w/ a Fender Custom Shop Strat w/ fat 50's pickups w/ '69 bridge through a Fender Super Reverb reissue stock.I have the Ibanez TS9DX in the same effects chain as this TS808HW and the TS808HW sounds clearer, more transparent, the highs are a little crispier, and lows are less muddy. Has less mids and sounds a litte smoother. Definitey a better tone, about 10-12% better sounding tone. Still, I like the TS9DX and will never get rid of it because I like having the 2 totally different chips in both of them. Although I read in a pro review that a vintage TS808 which sometimes sell as high as $600-1000, sounds a little better even.Barely worth the money unless you are very picky about tone and an advanced player.
