Good pedal, I use the delay more than the echo. I can't seem to get a setting I like with the echo, but I'm sure it's me, not the pedal. One thing: I recently bought a tube amp. Not knowing the benefits of the effects loop I ran my effects like I did with my solid state amp. Guitar>Tuner>Distortion>Chorus>Flanger>Delay/echo>CryBaby>Amp. I did not like the way the delay sounded, I couldn't get a good setting on it while playing thru the tube amp. Someone told me to run the effects thru the effects loop of the amp. NOW: Guitar>tuner>amp Effects loop: Distortion>Chorus>Flanger>Delay/echo>CryBaby. I once again love the delay pedal. It sounds like it used to with the solid state amp. My only complaint: With the pedal in bypass I can still see a red light shining thru from underneath a dial. Whenever I look down I think it might be on. The power light is clearly at the top of the pedal so I just have to get used to looking there instead. I would buy this unit again it anything happened to it.

The pedal is well built, except for the cheesy plastic switch on the inside which activates the delay. if it weren't for that i would recommend everyone buy ibanez toneloks, but, as usual, everyone should stick with boss pedals as they are built to survive much. i have been very pleased with the sounds produced by the pedal otherwise and really like the control i have on the settings.

Overall:
THIS IBANEZ DE-7 ECHO-DELAY PEDAL HAS THE BEST SOUND AND EASE OF OPERATION OF ANY THAT I HAVE TRIED. MY SIRECO TAPE ECHO CHAMBER HAS STOPPED WORKING, SO I BOUGHT THIS ONE. THE DE-7 HAS BETTER SOUND THAN MY TAPE ECHO CHAMBER HAD. IF EVER THIS ONE GOES BAD I WILL SURELY BUY ANOTHER ONE. THE PRICE WAS VERY GOOD!

I loved the sound at the store, but when I got it home I began to notice the heavy breathing of the noise gate. When played hard through single coil pickups, it produced crackling noises that are retained in the echo loop. I find it also spikes easily on single notes. Another problem is not enough filtering. On most power supplies you can hear the time base {digital clock rate} buzzing through the thing when you hit a note.

What is the A/D D/A conversion rate of this unit? It can't be found anywhere in the specs. I assume it's pretty low, thus the reason for the shoddy performance under certain conditions, and also the lack of the specs being publishesd anywhere.

However on a positive note, the regeneration is the sweetest, and it has the nicest decay of any echo unit I have used. So I guess if you're not noise critical, and not distortionally challanged, it's a pretty good sounding unit. I have the opportunity to return it after 10 days, but I may just live with it's quirks, as I love the "soft" natural sound it produces. Guess I can't throw the baby out with the trash. If they would clean it up a little, this unit would be unbeatable.

Okay, this is a pretty sweet pedal, i'll admit. It's got nice delay, and easy to get the exact sound you want, and sounds great while strumming on a clean channel (check out "Echo" by Incubus for an example). Although, it's really pricey. I bought mine for 170 bucks (Canadian) and i've heardly ever used it. Just not as handy as distortion i guess.
