I loved the sound at the store, but when I got it home I began to notice the heavy breathing of the noise gate. When played hard through single coil pickups, it produced crackling noises that are retained in the echo loop. I find it also spikes easily on single notes. Another problem is not enough filtering. On most power supplies you can hear the time base {digital clock rate} buzzing through the thing when you hit a note.
What is the A/D D/A conversion rate of this unit? It can't be found anywhere in the specs. I assume it's pretty low, thus the reason for the shoddy performance under certain conditions, and also the lack of the specs being publishesd anywhere.
However on a positive note, the regeneration is the sweetest, and it has the nicest decay of any echo unit I have used. So I guess if you're not noise critical, and not distortionally challanged, it's a pretty good sounding unit. I have the opportunity to return it after 10 days, but I may just live with it's quirks, as I love the "soft" natural sound it produces. Guess I can't throw the baby out with the trash. If they would clean it up a little, this unit would be unbeatable.
