Feature:
There's not really any missing features. The pickup selection is more than I'll ever need. Neckthrough is great. Mahogany body. An ebony fretboard would be nice but not in this price range.

Quality:
I don't expect the quality to be bleeding edge on a lower priced guitar. Originally I looked at the RGT42 series over a year ago before I bought my JEM Jr. and found the quality to be lacking. The binding wasn't great and the neck wasn't that smooth. The latest version has much improved quality. There are few areas that could be improved. The bridge is ok. The tremelo bar is really skimpy. A couple screws are not quite perfectly straight.

Value:
The value of this guitar is high. The quality of workmanship is higher than expected and it just plays nice. Having a mahogany body and neckthrough make this guitar (to some poeple) more valuable than the lower end prestige models.

Desirability:
The Prestige models seem to be more directed at an older crowd in their looks (probably due to the price). I've been waiting for shark tooth inlays to come back in style for a while now and here they are. Now more than just the RG250DX have them. The finish on the guitar is really nice. Flat transparent. It looks black with little light, purplish with a bit more light, and more blue/lavendar (like it's supposed to be) in daylight.

Sound:
This guitar sounds great. A lot better than my JEM 555 with the exception of the pickups. The pickups sound great for single strings and the guitar's sustain is amazing but power chords sound a little muddy and not well defined (more noticeable when recording). I've returned my JEM Jr to stock Dimarzio's and removed the EMG which will go into this guitar.

Ease of Use:
Excellent to play. Very nice action. The looks caught my eye right away but the guitar plays great which is why I bought it.

Support:
I've never dealt with Ibanez customer support.

Overall:
I think I'll be happy with this guitar for a while. If something happened to it down the road I would get another (unless something better came along). I will probably end up replacing both pickups and the bridge in the future (after I sell my JEM jr).

Feature:
I love the finish and the neck-through construction. I love the fact that the finish extends from the body to the neck, and the headstock. The edge II trem system is very smooth as well.

Quality:
Exquisite quality. I also have an American custom shop Ibanez S Series, and the RGT42 plays just as good for 1/5 of the price.

Value:
Excellent value. The $525.00 that I paid at the retailer was well worth the price.

Desirability:
I might have to leave my fiance for this guitar! I have been spending more time with the guitar than with her.

Sound:
The sound is good overall, but I am going to replace the stock pickups with Dimarzios to better fit my tastes.

Support:
I have never had a problem with any of my Ibanez guitars.

Overall:
This guitar initially caught my eye because of the transparent lavendar flame maple finish. Once I played the guitar, I knew I had to have it. This is the type of guitar that makes you want to do nothing else but play all day.

Feature:
has everything. nothings missing. if anything, it has too much stuff... but it doesnt... its great. very feature-y

Quality:
built very well. ive hit the tip of the headstock on various surfaces several times, though never on purpose, and all it has is the slightest scuff.

Value:
kinda pricey for what it is, and i dont think id get another one for this price, should it ever be stolen or smashed or something, but its ok, cuz i had a relatively high price range.

Desirability:
who wouldnt want this? rg style body is so slick and sharp-looking, almost like you could cut something in half with it. the finish is awesome, its more flamed than the pictures suggest, and its way darker. but when i got it, i shined it with rubbing alcohol, which looking back on may not have been very good for it, but it looks much more purple-y now. great looking guitar. i wouldve preferred a glossy finish to the flat though.

Sound:
well, the pickups arent the best, but by far not the worst either. ive been wanting pickups with better pinch harmonics, probably dimarzio's or emg's later on.

Support:
havent dealt

Overall:
buy it, its like playing air. so smooth and fast, relatively light considering its solid mahogany, and sounds great, very versatile, i play punk/rock/metal and even a few bluesy things sometimes, and it can handle it all.

Feature:
I got mine used so I'm not sure completely what it came with out of the box but on the guitar itself it is wonderful. The floating Floyd Rose works great and combined with the locking nut I rarely have to tune. The deluxe shark fin inlays and a really nice touch.

Quality:
The guitar is great, no blemishes, no cheap parts, everything is solid. The neck-through holds it together great (and give killer sustain). You have to try it in person to appreciate the quality.

Value:
Can't beat it, wouldn't say I would pay the $780 list but I got mine played maybe once or twice for $400 so I can't complain in the least.

Desirability:
The neck is amazingly sleek and smooth and the shark fin inlays jump out at you, the finish on it looks amazing.

Sound:
Being an Ibanez with the infinity pick ups this is a metal machine. The five-way switch for the two pickups allows you to get a whole range of tone including more blues tones to crunch of metal.

Ease of Use:
The action on this is amazing, i thought my other guitar was nice but with this barre chords are nothing and running scales and sweeps is a dream. This has to be the smoothest guitar I have ever played.

Overall:
Go get one now, or at least give it a try. You can't be disappointed.

Feature:
The five position switch for the two humbuckers is great for those who need that "Strat" sound, as well. The Lo-Pro II is very smooth and there is no play in the tremolo bar input.

Quality:
Quality is great...it feels very sturdy and the components are tight. Not quite as good as the two old Japanese Ibanez that I own, though.

Value:
This is THE best Ibanez that is not a "Prestige" model. If you are a soloist and you don't want to pay a lot for a great guitar...buy it!

Desirability:
The RG type body is always great looking and it's even better when it's a neck-through design. It's not "Transparent Lavender"...it's "Transparent Flat Eggplant Purple"! It's a much darker shade than the pictures on the web.

Sound:
The Infinity Pick-ups are great for metal and have a very smooth tone for soloing. It's not difficult to make them squeal, either.

Support:
Easy to register with Ibanez.

Overall:
This guitar will keep me satisfied for a long time or until I'm rich and can afford a custom model! It's the first neck-through model that I've owned and I love it. If you like to shred you will too.

Feature:
Features are nice. Edge Pro II, Feels pretty good, a little loose on the tremolo bar. Sharktooth inlays are awesome looking. The neck feels smooth. All the tools you need came with the guitar. Five way switch offers a multitude of pickup combinations, all with a very distinct sound. Versatile.

Quality:
There apprears to be a small cosmetic flaw on the edge where the armrest is. Looks like it didn't get finished correctly -- there is a slight gap on the edge of the body.. It's one of those things that I never notice, or think about. But the flaw is there. Not sure if it's common on this model. Everything else is perfect. The flat finish is smooth and has a tough feel to it and hopefully will last.

Value:
A very nice instrument. The neck thru is really great. All the hardware is nice, the finish is cool, the trem stays in tune, the pickups are of good quality. I like this guitar A LOT!

Desirability:
The overall design is meant to have some extra appeal over a plain looking guitar. The lavender finish with a flame underneath, sharktooth inlays, Edge Pro II. To me, it's a fine looking machine, which is one reason I bought one.

Sound:
The sound is very full and rich from both pickups. I like lots of distortion and the INF pickups just scream with output. I don't know if I'll need to replace the pickups. They sound great through my Flextone III. Clean, dirty, mushy, this is covering a nice range of sounds. I'm not a sound purist that comes from the old days of strats and tele's, so I'm not qualified to talk about vintage tones. But I really like what I hear.

Support:
Haven't used it.

Overall:
This is a fine guitar. I had owned a RG570 that had the really thin neck, the paint chipped super easy and had a licensed floyd. This thing is way above and beyond that guitar. If you can't afford a prestige model, than this thing is worth saving a few pennies for.

Feature:
Included the allen keys and everything you need to maintenance it. It's not the best edge bridge but its still pretty good. I really love the feel of the neck, I actually like the wizard II better than the wizard on the prestiges.

Quality:
Amazing except for one part, the edge III bridge has a pop in arm socket, and it is stretched out so the bar falls out, but I fixed that by just wrapping some tissue around it.

Value:
Amazing value! the neck is perfect, it's a neck through and it's made of the most beautiful wood available. If you are thinking of buying it, GET IT!!!!!!!! You won't regret it.

Desirability:
this thing looks way better in real life, it looks like a piece of crap on the internet, but in real life it looks AMAZING! this is the sexiest guitar i have ever seen.

Sound:
Let me say this first, the stock pickups aren't very good. They don't complement Mahogany at all. In my opinion, they are crap... But I dropped emg actives into this and now it sounds INSANE! drop better pickups in this, and it'll sound like a dream.

Ease of Use:
This is the best playing guitar I have ever owned or tried. It is very easy to get a great sound out of it, if you have different pickups in it. Overall, this guitar is the best playing guitar I have ever had the pleasure to own or try.

Support:
My first one had a defect and Ibanez sent 3 of the guitars to my local music store for me to try each to see which one I liked best. (They had different setups.) I received the guitar a week after I sent it back. Ibanez has the best customer service I have ever heard of!

Overall:
This is the best guitar ever.

Feature:
This is where the guitar shines, there are so many features, it's overwhelming at first, the floating tremolo takes some getting used to, but once you figure it out, it's great. Could use a third tone knob though

Quality:
The pickups are good, but not to great, a great thing about this instrument is, it hardly breaks a string, you'll find yourself changing the strings before you break them.

Value:
It's definatly worth the money, I got it for around 750$, for that price it is miles above anything else in the range.

Desirability:
It's really nice looking, the sharktooth inlays are so nice, easily the strongest feature of the guitar.

Sound:
it plays ever genre very well. But metal the best, you shred all day with this baby.

Ease of Use:
It's hard to figure out, if your a noob, like I was.

Support:
Support is really good, I needed help with the bridge, and they helped me majorly

Overall:
By the looks of it, I will have this guitar for a long time, I have already done a few gigs with it. I recomend it.

Feature:
Comes with everything you need including the alen wrenches. The bridge isn't the best Edge you can buy, but it works well and it's fun to have a floater. Requires more setup time and thuroughness but in the end offers so many advantages and feels great to play.

Quality:
THe finish is light on the back of the neck, which is actually kind of nice cause it gives you a clearer look at the finish. On the body the finish is a dark dark purple on flame maple that I think looks ****in sweet. But some nickel-covered pickups in there and that is as sharp as a guitar gets in my opinion (unles you're talking customs of course). It's solid, the guitar itself is as durable as it gets, but the bridge is a floater so have a backup guitar. The knobs and switch are very secure and should cause no probelms for a long time.

Value:
The body of thsi guitar is simply top-quality. The bridge is nearly as good a floater as you could want. Just replace the pickups and you have what is basically a high-end gig capable guitar at less than $1,000. The JEM guitars are better, but the value on this thing blows them away. Korean guitars are not to be scoffed at for their quality, and the Japanese really aren't superiour in making their products in any way (the JEMs just have some nicer parts is all). If you want to be patriotic, buy American, if you want this guitar that plays so well for such value, you'll have to swallow you're national pride a lil' bit and forget anything you mave have heard or read on abusive labor practices, but it'll feel alright in the end.

Desirability:
Looks great, plays great, great features, just needed to change those INF pickups and my guitar is a thing of great beauty. I'm starting a classic rock cover band (currently missing one or two person's of talent), and I've been playing for 10+ years. Never has playing been such a joy before I got this.

Sound:
Solid sounding guitar. The wood and neck-thru design is sweet and the five-way switch is nice, but change the pickups to suit your needs. The 'infinities' were too muffled for my taste, the highs just weren't distinct enough. I switched to a set of clean sounding Duncans. It's now the best sounding guitar I've ever played. Very sharp sounding, solos like a dream.

Support:
Ibanez's web-site is pretty informative and they responded to an e-mail of mine in less than 24 hours. I've never had to order a replacement part yet. Can't find a reason to complain.

Overall:
Again I do love how this guitar feels to play, the neck and bridge are real quality. I would consider getting another if need be, although I'd aim for a JEM I think.

Feature:
5-way selector offers loads of options and some good variety in sounds though when I upgrade the pups I will also add coil taps for even more versatility. The bridge is good and the thru-neck is incredible! This thing can sustain forever. I will only have a thru-neck from now on.

Quality:
Minor imperfections only really. Very good though the fretboard could have been of better quality. Would love to see ebony.

Value:
Compared to the Prestige range it's superb. Upgrade the pups and maybe the bridge and you have a far better guitar than a Prestige at a fraction of the price.

Desirability:
It's just gorgeous. I've had it a year now and I still look on it as a thing of exquisite beauty.

Sound:
Generally I'd say it was very good. The neck pick up is excellent on high end single notes but gets a klittle muddy on chords and lower stuff. The bridge pup can be a little noisy but is a very good basic sound. I'm happy with it though I do intend to upgrade the pups to Bareknuckles in the next couple of months. The rosewood on the fingerboard could be of better quality.

Ease of Use:
The floating bridge takes a little getting used to but it's not as bad as you are sometimes told. The neck is super thin and a dream to play. It makes my old Strat feel clumsy.

Support:
Not used.

Overall:
I will upgrade it but I have no intention of replacing it. I used to have a Ritchie Sambora Strat and this is streets ahead.
