Sound: It sounds good stock. Nice thick sound. it sounds better with a Duncan Rail. Even better with the Dimarzio Evolution. Better than that with the Bill Lawrence L500XL. Best with all 3 Feature: The Tremelo is ok, it was missing 2 springs which messed it up when changing the strings for the first time. The trem almost left the body, cuz i use thick strings and strange tunings i guess. so i put 2 extra springs but the action feels to tight. so i took out 1 to make it a both ways kinda trem. it would be better if it was like a floyd rose, or atleast a knock off. Quality: It ain't broke yet, but turning the tone knob all the way is almost like an off button. Value: It's a 9 cuz my rg321 is my first guitar, this is my second. and my only for the modem. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to call them, but then again, its an Ibanez. You don't have to. The Wow Factor: The inlay is what got me. but its well worth a pickup change and that turns it to a champion. Overall: I didn't go looking for it, but its worth it. i wouldn't have anything less

Sound: This guitar contains some of the most amazing pick-ups for the price. I have played the 1200 dollar Stratocaster, the 1400 dollar version of the Gibson SG and this guitar is the only one of those three that can match the sound I want. The best part is because of the 5-way pick-up selector once I dial in my EQ on the amp will allow that sound to be produced in 5 different manners. The sound even without an amp is amazing, again using the Stratocaster and SG as an example this guitar produced a much better sound than either of those two. Feature: Unfortunatly this guitar may have a whammy-bar compatible tremolo but it does not come with a whammy-bar, so go to your nearest Ibanez dealer and get yourself one, it is worth the money. The thing I find neatest about this guitar is that no matter how much I abuse that whammy and the tremolo it never goes dramaticly out of tune! I went about 5 days with the factory strings not tuning it and it was barely off, so i spent 3 mins and tuned it up using the chromatic tuner built into the Peavey Vypyr Amp and away I went. The one complaint I do have about the tremolo is that it doesn't pull the note back as far as some of the higher priced Ibanez. Ease of Use: I find it very easy to get great sound out of the GRG170DX, all you need to do is find yourself your favorite pick-setting, screw around with your amp's EQ a bit and you can get any sound from screeching death metal, all the way to a soft rock in a matter of seconds. There is a slight learning curve with this guitar because of the position of the pick-up selector, if you overstrum you might catch the switch a little moving it to the bottom humbucker, but after playing it for a few hours you should be just fine. Quality: The quality of this guitar is amazing, but I would recomend carrying a micro-fiber cloth around with it in the case to keep the smudges, fingerprints, and dust off that nice shiny mirror finish. When I got it the strings were very crappy, but until they break or you personally see that they need changing I have found no reason other than to keep the tuning better to change them. I believe this is a very dependable guitar, the tuners fit nice and snug, the volume and tone knobs are on very nicely and spin very easily, the neck is very well attached for a bolt-on, and I have had no trouble with the hardware what so ever. Value: This guitar is very much worth its price, I mean it is a intermediate level guitar for $250, its finish is amazing and I have failed to find anything wrong with it so far. Manufacturer Support: I can make no comment on support due to the fact for as long as I have owned the GRG170DX I have had no need for the customer support from Ibanez. Although I have heard that it is very good. The Wow Factor: The first time I saw this guitar in the zZounds magizine(go figure) it caught my eye. But of course I am like "250 dollars, that is a lot of money"(I make $10 a week doing chores) but I saw that christmas was rolling around and made a deal with my parents that I would help pay for it. So I found the candy apple red version of this guitar at my local Ibanez dealer and flipped out, it was amazing so I took it back to their amp room plugged it in and played. Even the candy apple red version has the mirror finish on it, that is how I actually reconized it. The pick-ups also drew my attention, the fact that the Stratocaster and the SG had two humbuckers and then this beast has two humbuckers and a single coil with a 5-way pick-up switch I thought "OMG!" and went straight for it. Pretty much this is another one of Ibanez's amazing products with their amazing finishes and all, but the Black night is by far my favorite. Overall: I expect to be satisfied with this guitar for many years to come and do not expect to upgrade for a while.(being until my skills overrule this guitar) And when I do upgrade I plan to get the newest RG there is. So you have the GRG(little brother) and the RG(big brother). If my guitar was ever stolen I would first of all hunt down the person who did it and have them fined and put in jail. But depending on the amount of money I have, I would either 1: Get the same guitar ordered directly from Ibanez or 2: Get the RG above it. This guiatr has met my musical standards and beyond, especialy noticable when I dissed the Stratocaster and the Gibson SG up above and in store. Which the only good thing that Fender makes is strap locks, that is my opinion. Gibson I cannot get the sound I want out of the two humbuckers and the Stratocaster you cannot get the humbucking sound out of those single-coils.

Sound: I couldn't have asked for a better guitar! This guitar's sound is extremely good especially when hooked up to a digitech rp150 processing pedal. I thought that I could get better sound by switching out the pu's but I was TOTALLY WRONG!!! The pu's the guitar came with are amazing!!! Feature: Features are pretty good. The volume and tone controls are very very good. It came with a tremolo which works pretty well but there's not much more than that. It doesn't really matter though the guitar is amazing and doesn't need any features Ease of Use: Extremely easy to use. Just plug and play. The neck feels AMAZING too! Quality: Amazing quality everything has worked amazing for years. The only thing is the cable jack. The nut comes a little loose every now and then but overall the guitar is put together very well. Value: Incredible! Definitely worth the buy! I would pay more for this guitar in a heartbeat! Manufacturer Support: Never needed it. The Wow Factor: Very nice lookin' guitar especially in the blue! Shivers went down my spine when I 1st saw it in person! =] Overall: This is an AMAZING GUITAR!!! If your gonna buy a guitar soon by this one cause I've seen much more expensive guitars for less quality. It's definitely worth the buy!

Sound: I have herd bad things about the pickups but i have to say i am very impressed they are not muddy at all very nice sound for passive pickups. Its great for all types of music Feature: Its a basic guitar with a floating bridge so u can pull back on it to raise the pitch of the note but the volume pot is not that great it the level of the sound wont change much when using it so its not that great for volume swells the tuners are nice aswell Ease of Use: Very simple guitar thin strong neck no locking tremolo but because of the bridge you will have trouble keeping it in tune for a few hours after changing the strings Quality: greatest quality guitar i have seen for the price Value: for $250 this is the greatest guitar you could buy i even liked it better than some of the RG series that i tried out Manufacturer Support: i have not had to deal with them but i have only herd good things The Wow Factor: i got it in red and the finish, shape, and inlays are SEXY i have been focused on this for the two weeks before i got it Overall: if it was stolen i would get another one i was very impressed with it

Sound: Compared to the previous guitars I've owned, this is the best - especially for the cash I paid for it. This guitar is only about $100 more expensive than a bottom shelf First Act or some other generic guitar but it sounds like it's worth alot more. Feature: Nice Humbucker-Single-Humbucker layout with the five way toggle switch. The tremolo is so responsive that I can use it with my pinkie. Ease of Use: I haven't done much to it yet to modify it for a personal soud, but it seems like this guitar can be molded to fit alot of different sound types. Quality: Came in the mail before i expected it. I opened the box and the finish stunned me. Deep, DEEP black with a unbelieveable clear coat or high gloss finish. The bridge is great, no problems there. Tuners seem like they're great stuff. Pickups are good, can't complain for the money. Value: Best guitar for the price. Manufacturer Support: Never had to use them, hope I never do. The Wow Factor: It looks good and is really well shaped and crafted. Sweet axe. Overall: Again - sweet axe.

Sound: An effective electric guitar. Great for beginners. Buy this and play the crap out of it until you find your sound. By then you'll be ready to buy you're pro-level $500+ guitar. 3 pick-ups and a tone knob give you plenty of options for practicing. I would have no qualms taking this onstage, the pickups and build quality are great. Feature: for the price, it's an amazing deal. 3 pick-ups. 24 frets. built for playing. Ease of Use: simple design, the way a guitar should be built. Quality: I've had no problems. paint doesn't flake. nothing wobbles. Value: best in class. lots of options, great guitar. The Wow Factor: I've got it in deep blue. My guitar is very pretty. I named her Isabella (bella in italian means beautiful). the shark tooth fretboard inlays are ugly and ibanez should never use the again. if i ever send the guitar in to be repaired I will have the inlay changed. Overall: Great value. Great features. If you're beginner to intermediate, buy it. Experiment with it. Have fun.

Feature: a wamy bar. Ease of Use: 8 is only cause i'm new and have alot to learn however the harmonics come alive with a little distortion.the sustain on this guitar is every bit as good as my fender set neck. Quality: this guitar is solid the only thing i wory about is the dials seem to be a bit scratchy untill i twist them 3 or 4 times? Value: YES Manufacturer Support: I bought my GRG from a music store in coos bay OR they since went out of buisness but they were very helpfull in my disission with an ampele selection.I have'nt had any problems with my GRG. The Wow Factor: started out as a beginner guitar but now i find myself thinking of it as #1 insted of #2. and yea she's sexy Overall: I expect this guitar to last a long time, I have allready bought another guitar (fender strat for those lazy days)as far as wearing this guitar out i think i have a long road ahead of me and alot to learn and i think you have done a very good job with this one again I THANK YOU.

Sound: Would sound better with a marshall amp, but hey, whatever works. It sounds waaaayyyy better than my old guitar. I expected it to sound better distorted and not clean, but the clean setting sounds awesome, too. Feature: It came with pretty much all you need, if you have an amp.If you don't have an amp, then you're pretty much out of luck. But it comes with everything else, including a cable. Ease of Use: It feels a lot better than my old guitar, but it doesn't feel as awesome as I thought it would. But, the instructions did explain everything someone would need to know. Quality: Not much to say, except that it's an Ibanez. You can't get much better quality than that. Value: It's definately worth more than it's price. Manufacturer Support: Don't know, haven't had to use them yet. The Wow Factor: It's awesome. I mean, look at it! The shark tooth inlays, the amazing color, and the style are all amazing. Sound: The Humbuckers are simply brilliant ! The H-S-H combination provides with you an option of switching onto clean rhythms (just as in Iced Earth). This guitar is simply a powerpack for metalheads. Iv been using this guitar for almost about 3 months & i must say the fretboard is runway for your fingers! Feature: The guitar come with a steel tremlo one coaxial cable. If your just looking out for a guitar then it has all the components within. Ease of Use: 5 options on the pick up switches. You can get a lot of comibnation using the HSH combination with 5-way switch. It can handle rhythm & lead sections very easily. Quality: 3 piece basswood. Solid Body. A brilliant finish. Jumbo frets, they dont tend to bend much. Value: This is made for those who are low on budget & to them its the best you can get. Trust me i feel this guitar is better than a RG270 series. The Wow Factor: Ibanez Rulez ! Look at the guitar for yourselves. Its a babe handle her carefully

Sound: 2 Humbuckers and one single coil. Good sound in various switch positions, from clear to distorted. For my playing style, the pickups work well. Feature: Has all the "bells and whistles" that I need. The hardware seems of good quality. The tuners are good, however the tremelo system in my opinion is not up to par. The guitar always goes out of tune when using the whammey bar. I will take it in to get it looked at. It just may need tweeking i.e. spring changes to get it right. Based on my experiance with low/mid/ and high end guitars, this guitar overall is of better quality then I have seen from other makers in this price range. Ease of Use: The neck on this guitar is by far the easiest to play on out of all my guitars, including my American Stratocaster. I would highly recommend this guitar for anybody that is on a budget. Plug it in to a good amp, and it will stand right up and even pass most in the same price range. Quality: Othet than the tremelo system, this guitar is put together well and mine does not have any blemishes or loose parts. I am surprised of the quality despite this thing being made in Indonesia.(Which I did not know until after I bought it and took it home). As with any guitar, if it is taken care of, it will last. This thing was set up well right out of the box. The only thing I did was change the strings. Value: In my judgement, this guitar is well worth the money. A good quality guitar for the money Manufacturer Support: Not needed so far but their web site is full of info The Wow Factor: I have the Candy Apple Red and with the shark tooth inlays, this is a sharp looking guitar. I bought this guitar as an extra to play. I dont like playing the same guitar day after day. Overall: I am satisfied with this guitar. I'm dissipointed with the tremelo system, but I'll see after a professional set-up and adjustment. I will probably buy a higher end Ibanez(this is my second Ibanez. My current income allows me to pretty much buy any high end model I want, but I am impressed with this guitar and the Ibanez line. The only other guitar that I would consider in this price range would be a Shecter. I have had one(Gryphon) and the hardware such as the bridge and tuners are brand name on most models, but this Ibanez guitar is a very good choice for anyone.

Sound: I think it could have had better sound, but it fits with some alternative, hard rock (to some degree) , and punk. I don't recommend for metal. It needs harder sounding pickups!!! Feature: It came with a pretty nice cable ; at least it still works, also a wammy bar came with it (probably the best accesory). Ease of Use: Its a little hard. The fret board isnt to easy to move your fingers on and it untunes itself for some odd reason, and the bridge sucks (the wammy bar also messes it up the tuning) ; besides that, its very good for beginners and those in the middle of the intermediate stage. Quality: Its pretty nicely made, nothing more to say (could've had a better bridge and fretboard though). Value: It was on sale and at an ok price. I think it should be sold around the price of $190 myself. Overall: I'm getting a new guitar anyway, but i will keep it for punk rock and alternative (maybe some hard rock and rock n' roll) ,and probably for an extra guitar with drop d-tuning. I recommend this guitar for beginners and hope it can be improved.

Sound: The sound of this product is really good. My only complaint is that Ibanez did not give me a tuned guitar. My E, D, and A string were out of tune. Other than that this guitar is amazing. Its very durable. I dropped it outside and besides a really small thin scratch that no one could see unless you leaned in close, there was no deformity. It sounded just as good as it always does. Feature: This came with a guitar cable, and a string changer. It has a full year warranty which is awesome. This guitar is amazing for the price. It has so many features you would expect to get from a pricier guitar. Ease of Use: It is very comfortable and looked amazing. I had my doubts about the looks of the guitar until I got it. The pictures really don't do the guitar justice. It looks amazing in person. The black is really nice even though it looked ugly in the product pictures of zzounds.com Quality: Amazing quality. Dropped in 5 times on the cement, (I get crazy in concerts)and sounds just as great as when it was new. Only 1 scratch and its so small, thin, very unnoticeable. amazing. definitely great for the road. The finish is amazing, however it gets dirty REALLY FAST. You need to clean this guitar a lot it maintain its "shine". Value: So Many Features... A low price compared to many guitars. DEFINITELY worth the buy. Manufacturer Support: Never needed it The Wow Factor: It looks amazing. That is all I can say. The pictures don't do this guitar justice. Overall: I know I'm going to own this guitar for a very long time. I'm a professional guitarist but would recommend this guitar for anyone, especially beginners and intermediate. This is the BEST buy for intermediate and beginners. Its good for professionals too but there are a couple of things as far as style and sound goes that as a performer would like to have in this guitar.

Sound: Man when i first got it, i couldnt believe what kinds of sounds i could make with this. I have an BOSS effect and a fender 120 watt amp and they sound so clean and crisp. Feature: This had an alright amount of accessories. It came with a cable, manual, spring, and a bar. The bars realy good but my cable broke within a day. The pickups on this guitar is very nice. This guitar is made out of basswood so its sort of light. Its thing and i get to play solos now. Ease of Use: Definitely 10! This is one of the best priced guitar. Its easy to play and i can create many sounds with this baby. Quality: This guitar is strong. Ive dropped it 2 times heavily and it still sounds great. This is a well built guitar. Value: This is defnitely worth it. You get so much more for the price. Manufacturer Support: Ive used it for a year and a half and ive NEVER had a problme with it. The Wow Factor: Look at that guitar! Its so nice. I always go for simplicity and this guitar is so simple. The shark tooth inlays make me look good. Overall: If your starting or a pro, this is the guitar for you. This sounds great, looks great, and feels great. BEST GUITAR!

Sound: the sound is great for stock pickups , it has good sustain and character , i do say the single coil even makes my noise gate flutter a bit . butt all in all for the $$$ , its worth it Feature: i give this an 5 for the absolute reason of the fat 10 bridge , its like playing with an neck warping as the minutes pass , tuning locks are even an nut lock would have been an key factor , but as i do alot of bar work , id say dont get it for that reason . my best advise would be to put in the 3rd spring and tighten the screws until the back of the trem is tight against the body . it seems to stay in tune after i did that , i call it a cheesy trem block , but i figured in an way i could use it for dives at least , cause anyways , like it has enough room for pull ups . buy some locking tuners . i like every thing else about the guitar , the neck plays great , but i do say the volume knob is a bit sketchy on it needs an 1/4 turn before it moves freely . Ease of Use: after i tightened the springs , it stayed in tune , it plays well , and its fun to jam with . Quality: for the price , i do say this guitar was built to last , the chrome hardware , the tuners are nice and once again for stock IBN pickups , it has a decent sound variety , although i just this guitar today ,im going to but my old V7 in the neck , and an EMG in the bridge . all in all , its way worth the $$$ Value: worth the money , as i say again , would be better with locking tuners Manufacturer Support: just got it , hope i don't have to use it The Wow Factor: yes it looks great , i got the candy apple red , i love the sleek metallic with the mirror like finish and i always liked shark tooth inlays , would be better if they were pearl . i seen it and said i gota buy this , cause for my budget it was a sweet looking axe Overall: i give it an 8 for the reason its looks great , has a nice neck , love the inlays and the paint finish , just the trem has it own issues , id advise locking tuners or add the 3rd spring an let the trem rest on the body , cause if ya don't , you will spend the whole time tuning it after every jam track or song . it is worth the $$$ in my opinion , for the looks and sound and neck alone . i own an RG series 7 string , the frets are finally wore down to the groove of the nut , so i needed an nice cheap replacement for the time being . and this seems like a good choice for the money . id advise to buy this guitar . but if you like doing tons of whammy dives and pull ups , invest in upgrades or get an RG with an nut locker .

Sound: The sound of the guitar is alright, but is definitely nothing special. It is very muddy and you can't get the clear, crisp sound that is vital for heavy riffing. It just sounds sludgy on the low end. The higher notes do sound muddy as well but that doesn't matter so much as the lower notes, as you are just playing single notes most of the time. It also has no dynamics or expressiveness. All the notes sound very dull. I recently tried a guitar from my school, that was of worse quality, cheaper price and had a lot of use out of it, and it sounded better than this guitar. It had some feeling in it and wasn't completely expressionless. You have to really push this guitar to get some feeling out of it. The reason I haven't graded the sound lower is because of it's one redeeming feature. The pickups. They actually seem decent. Nothing speical of course, but for a £150 guitar they seem alright. The bridge pickup gives out a more trebly, crisp creamy sound with lots of harmonics, and the neck gives out a nice fat warm tone. Rhythm playing with the neck pickup is almost impossible as it takes the already sludgly sound on the low notes and makes it more sludgy. the bridge pickup is also sometimes warmer and sludgier than I'd like it, and lacks a crystal clearness. Overall these pickups aren't brilliant, but they aren't bad. They are a bit of a redeeming feature of this guitars sound. Feature: First I will start off by saying that the pickup switcher, and the volume/tone knobs work absolutely fine and I have no problems with them at all. There is a big problem with this guitar though that is what brings the overall grade down to 4 where by average it should be 6. The bridge. It is absolutely awful. That is the only way to describe it. As a whammy bar it works fine except as it isn't a floyd rose it doesn't dive as far as I'd sometimes like it to. The problem is what it does to the rest of the guitar. It creates absolutely terrible tuning problems. My guitar is hardly ever properly in tune as with out using the whammy bar the strings can go out of tune in a matter of seconds, and if you do use the whammy bar then they go out of tune more, even quicker. I don't know how to stress how badly this guitar's tuning problems are it's not like you'll have to tune it every half hour or so and it will be fine. You can tune it all you want, every 10 seconds if you want, and it won't stay perfectly in tune. Because of these problems tuning to Drop-D is a real struggle as well especially if you want to play along with a backing track. If you tune to Drop-D or any tuning except standard, then the guitar will start going out of tune even faster. Also if you tune to Drop-D then the guitar will partially raise the bottom string from D to about Eb and slightly flatten all the other strings. This makes it impossible to play along with backing tracks. The only way to get it to go to a proper Drop tuning is to tune it at least ten times until it settles in place. I am not attacking Ibanez's bridge here, I think that any guitar of this price range with a tremolo (especially if it's not a locking bridge) will have these problems and I would strongly advise that if you're not willing to increase your budget then you should get a guitar without a tremolo system. Ease of Use: This guitar is pretty easy to use, mainly because their is not much to learn how to use on it. You will soon realise that their is not much point having the tone knob at anything except 10 as if you don't you start lwoing gain off your amp as well as tone. The volume knob is easy to use and works fine, and same with the pickup-selector. I thought the diagrams and instructions in the book about how to adjust the bridge could have been clearer, and some instructions about how to change strings would have been good, but overall the ease of use was quite good. Quality: Despite all its other flaws this guitar is built quite well. I've had it over a year now and although it has qute a lot of scratches on it here and there, it has no major damage. This guitar has fallen twice from above my waist-height due to the strap coming off and suffered no more than going out of tune. It has stood up quite well to the general bad treatment and ungentleness it gets from me, due to my constant annoyedness and sometimes anger at its tuning problems i.e. I haven't been careful not to hit it off things and quite happily chuck it on to beds and sofas where I would gently lay my nice acoustic down. It didn't come with any noticeable flaws from the factory as well. Overall I am actually very happy with the quality of this guitar. Value: I think for the same price you could get a lot better guitar though I don't think this is by any means the worst of it's price range, though I don't know that. It is a decent guitar except it's tuning problems which is why I would only pay £85 for it. Manufacturer Support: I've never had any contact or dealings with Ibanez so I have put this as a 5 as I have no idea whether Ibanez support is good or bad. The Wow Factor: This guitar does look good, which as I knew virtually nothing about guitars when I bought this, is one of the main reasons I did buy it. recently I have gone off the RG shape but it is a cool shape. Overall this guitar is rather sexy but is let down by the colour of the wood on the back and sides of the neck and headstock, which is a horrible pathetic yellowy wood colour. Your audience can't see that though. ;) Overall: If I had the moeny I would buy a new guitar right now as I am isck of this one. It does have it's redeeming features but the tuning problems are too bad to ignore. My advide. DO NOT GET THIS GUITAR, OR ANYTHING IN THIS PRICE RANGE WITH A TREMOLO SYSTEM.

Quality: My GRG170DX is in the shop with a neck problem Value: If it does not spend a lot of time in for repair, it sells for a reasonable price. At this time it is hard to be satisfied when a new guitar is in the shop. Manufacturer Support: The authorized repair center said they will notify me in 2-3 weeks if the guitar will be covered under warranty. The Wow Factor: The guitar looks and feels good. Overall: I am shopping for another electric guitar now.

Sound: The sound is very good for this price, the tone is beautiful. I am not a professional play and I play guitar just for relax. I am not sure if the sound is perfect but it's more than enough for me. Feature: Hey! Only $225 and you can get a guitar with neck just like the RGs! The body is in nice shape and it's not heavy. What more do you want? I have the black one and I think it is extremely beautiful. (Well, the girls love it) Quality: The guitar is very strong, can probably stand for 5 years or more. I've never worry about the quality of Ibanez! Nice guitar in a crazy price! Smart choice if you get one. Value: Only $225! The best guitar I've never play before with this price. Ibanez gave me a big offer. Manufacturer Support: Get your guitar stand because you will love it. Overall: If you have confidence for Ibanez, this is a good choice for you to get a RG with an affordable price, this guitar is pretty lovely. I am not a person who will use a same guitar for my whole life but I probably will use it more than 3 years! I love this baby.
