zZounds was very helpful; I like zZounds.. The AR620 is a nice guitar. Beautifully finished and appointed. With the tri-switches and the Super 80 pups, it will do all music styles. Beautiful pups; gorgeous sounds. But....the fret work is not up to Ibanez standards and will require a Luther's touch and added expense of 150-200 USD to even the frets and get the action low with no buzzes. Not the kind of fret work I expect from a hi value Ibanez guitar. Because of the poor fret work it deserves a lower ranking.

"A real black beauty"

Wow...the looks of this axe! It is a stunner: the black combines perfectly with the gold hardware and then, as a nice bonus, a beautiful "tree-of-life" in the fretboard. However: there are some minor optical issues. It's a pity that the Tri-sound switches are chrome, while the rest of the hardware on this guitar is gold. Should also be gold, or maybe black (as on the older '80s Artist models). Same goes for the toggle switch: althoug the mounting ring is gold coloured, the switch itself is chrome. The guitar plays well, low action and in my case: no buzzing at all, so fretwork is okay on my example. Soundwise the guitar is a bit disappointing: my amp is set up to fit my Gibson Les Paul. It still was when I plugged this Artist in. The sound was much "thinner", even with both tri-sound switches in humbucking position. had to add bass and to cut off a fair amount of treble on my amp to get the sound somewhat to my likes.

Guitar is beautiful and plays great. It is capable of so many different sounds because of the tri-switching pickups. Very happy with it.
