Hartke has been redefining the sound of bass guitar since the early 1980's. Their revolutionary aluminum-cone bass drivers and breakthrough cabinet designs were the first to combine an open-ended, articulate response with a fast attack and punchy bottom end. Learn More...

5 out of 10Feature:
I think the 400w is peak power capacity instead of RMS power, so too powerful of an amp will blow the speakers. The horn could use a switch, too.
Quality:
I bought mine used, so the carpet was torn in one place and the plastic corners are a little banged up. But, she is robust, she could probable handle a few falls on her face!
Value:
By far the best in its price range...and many other price ranges.
Desirability:
The big white HARTKE written on the cab looks pretty cool, it would only look better with the aluminum speakers!
Sound:
Overall the sounds is pretty good. WAY better than every thing in it's price range, but I've played on some Hartke's with aluminum speaker and they did sound a little better. Some of the Fender bassmans sounded better too, but those are expensive.
Ease of Use:
plug and play
Support:
The last I checked there was no Hartke.com or something like that. All the hartke products are listed on their parent company's website. I've also notice that not a whole lot of smaller stores carry Hartke here in the Indiana/Kentucky area, so actually getting to play on one was kind of a pain, and once I found a dealer the idiot on the other end of the phone had no clue what the hell I was talking about. So, I'm not looking forward to dealing with Hartke in the future.
Overall:
Overall a good value, I run mine with an older HA3500 head and it is a little too powerful for the cab at 8 ohms (by 40w) so don't turn the amp up too loud. I do intend on getting another 210 or a 115 to add to it some day, then the amp might be a better fit. But, the cab holds up fine as it is. I had to sell a guitar amp to pay for this thing and out of necessity I've been playing my strat through it too, and with a few adjustment on the eq., the strat actually sounds really good. So if I ever need some juice with my guitar, I'll probably use the Hartke!

5 out of 10Feature:
The plastic corner have stack edges other than that this thing is plug and play.
Quality:
Very solid and contructed professionally. It was not made on a friday for sure and its a heavy sucker. Im a big dude so I dont worry about transporting it...I got home and found out they left it out back...UPS...ERRRGG but it was in great condition and came out popping nice out of the box
Value:
yeah this was the most popular cab at this price and I see why....
Desirability:
Its well built sturdy and strong and kicks butt..Like me.
Sound:
It can give you the sound you want by dialing in correctly, I had to step away from the bass cab because I heard vibrating, it turns out to be my walls and hanging lamps. This Bass Cab absolutley crushes what Ive been listening too. My Band we jam and I know I can be heard much better than the 2 12' speakers at our practice studio. I use a Hartke 2500, I ve heard others use too much watts for this Cab so use the 2500 not the 4000 unit. If you go for the 4000 buy another Bass Cab and you'd be ridiculously loud.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to get what you want of this product just dont go using a very strong amp....a 350 Watt amp will do just fine. I have a 250 and it does what its supposed to do...
Support:
no need for them yet so no rating.
Overall:
I expect to be very satisfied. The only upgrade would be to buy another one and more amps for that to have that stage rigg sound. You get great high tones and earthquaking Lows and punchy mids, I use my Fender Jazz on it for R&B, Jazz, Drum and Bass and pretty much anything I feel like trying after that. It works well.

The paper cones are great they deliver a very warm tone along with high frequency horn its awesome.
Quality:
I have not had this amp for very long, about a month but it still sounds like the day i bought it plus i sit on it at band practice all the time and its seems like its gonna hold up.
Value:
I never would imagine to get this much quality and sound for more than this site is selling it for! great buy.
Desirability:
Its not the worst thing to look at but theres better, though it is very original.
Sound:
The sound is great, i bought this cab along with a Harke HA2500 head and its pleanty loud.
Ease of Use:
You plug it in and play its pretty simple, i also like the idea of 2 1/4' jacks
Support:
I hear its great but i dont think im gonna have to get a hold of them.

I wouldn't ever suggest any other cabnet or brand im forever a hartke bass player, really this is a great cab

5 out of 10Feature:
Pretty decent for the price. It needs a level control for the horn and needs casters of some sort. Plywood construction so that's a plus. The speaker inputs are 1/4 only. That should tell you something. The lack of speak-on connectors means this cabinet is pretty much designed for low power amps. I tried to put pop in casters on mine but was unable to get the speakers out to drill the bottom. The speaker connections are soldered (a good thing) but the wiring harness is stapled to the back of the cabinet with no room to lift the speaker out. I refuse to drill with the drivers in as wood chips or splinters can get caught in the cones. The cabinet is nicely damped with foam and braced up nice which contributes to the warm tone. The rear port is not screened so be careful or you might get something tossed in back there. My daughter tossed my cell phone in through the rear port and I had to pull the side handle to reach in and remove the phone. A pain in the rear!
Quality:
Fit, finish and overall construction are good for an entry level cabinet. Hardware used is of equal or better quaility than other cabs I've seen in this price range. This cabinet will serve you well if you understand up front that it's an inexpensive speaker cabinet. In other words don't try to knock walls down by shoving a 1000 watts through it and trying to keep up with your buddies 100 watt super cranked half stack. I see no reason why this cabinet shouldn't hold up well if you use it for it's intended purpose. Namely low to moderate volumes with a 200 to 300 watt head.
Value:
Seems to be good value for the money.
Desirability:
Everything about this cabinet just screams "average".
Sound:
Cabinet sounds pretty good as long as you don't push it too hard. Good bottom for a 410 cabinet and the paper cones give it a nice warm sound. I give it a 7 due to the fact that there is no level control for the horn and it can get too bright real quick. If you are expecting huge four ten tone from this cabinet, you will get it but only at low to moderate volumes. It is good at what it's designed for. An entry level 410 cabinet. If you want huge four ten tone, I'm sorry but you need to spend a lot more that $249.00 to get that.
Ease of Use:
Plug your speaker cable in the back. Is that easy enough for you?
Support:
I gave this a 5 due to the fact that I can't comment as I've never had to call Hartke.
Overall:
I will use it till I can afford a better cabinet. It's good for what it is but I know that I'll get tired of it soon. I think for any kind of "serious" stage use, you would get fed up with the cabinet pretty fast or at the least have to add an additional cabinet to balance out the sound. Hey it is what it is! A decent entry level cabinet.

8 out of 10Feature:
Looks great and for now seems solid. Though I have my doughts.
Quality:
It seems to be made well and designed well. Will it stand the test of time? I owned this for 6 months now and it already has a plastic corner loose.
Value:
It may be worth the price. I just wish it played as good as it looked.
Desirability:
I Should have spent more.
Sound:
Bought this because I wanted to start using the 10's instead of 15's. As For tone, It definitely brought up the upper mids to clean up and tighten the tone but took away from the bottom.
Push too much bass tone, speakers start farting.
For small venues, this does ok. For mid to large clubs, your gonna need more. For recording, it surprised me. It Did pretty good.
Ease of Use:
East to use, yes. Easy to set up at a Gig, yes. Plug is a but shabby but it works. ( cannot control tweeter separate ).
Support:
Never had to call support yet. No major problems.
Overall:
Gave it an 8 and may have gone to 9 if the bottom end was better.

from what i see, this cab is pretty light in weight and can take a beating.
Sound:
good for reggae bass playerz. most of the clubs in hawaii aren't to big, so this is awesome. if the cab is to small, run another 4x10 or 1x15 hartke. thats what i do. the sound is cherry. wouldn't want any other cab
Ease of Use:
to get a great sound is pretty easy. all you need is a head that can kick and know how to set the eq.

Great sound for the $$. I have this paired with the vx115, powered with a carvin R1000. Have peen playing through that setup for almost two years, never had a problem. I have a behringer bx3000 as a backup, which is ok for practice, but not enough power for serious performing.

6 out of 10Feature:
This cab has nothing but two 1/4 inputs on the back. No Speakons, no tweeter control, etc.
Quality:
Didn't feel very solid. The jack plate was plastic and it had an overall cheap feel to it.
Value:
What you pay for is what you get.
Desirability:
Don't ever want another one. It does look rather perty though.
Sound:
I thought this cab was all that because it was my first "big rig." But now I moved up to an SWR rig and this is way weak by comparison. It just didn't have any punch or articulation. But I was using it with a Behringer BX3000T head which may have contributed to my opinion of this cab. I think it would be good for any lower volume music like jazz or light rock. BUt if your band is loud or you need to compete with two guitarists, this isn't the one for you.
Support:
Never dealt.
Overall:
Totally average cabinet. It's a good first cab for someone just stepping up to a larger rig from a combo. But once you start playing through some different cabs and amps this one will fall by the wayside quick.

10 out of 10Feature:
It's look great and is not too heavy if you compare with another four ten cabs.
Quality:
I think that the only problem that has this hartke speaker is that is not too good if you want a lot of power. The 400 watts is not RMS. I use it with my hartke 4000 head (only 220 at 8 ohm) and it sound good but it blow up one time and in the past I have the same problem with a hartke VX 115 cab and I had to change it for this 4 10. So if you have a regular head, this is the cab for you. But, if you want a lot of power, you have to be careful, or go for the hartke XL series.
Value:
For this price is a very good cab.
Sound:
It's has a good sound. Good fidelity and good low for a four ten speaker but not too much power.
Support:
Hartke support is great!
