Feature:
I like the enhance mode. Ergonomics are great. Light and thin. Wish it had more effects built in, but not a problem in my case.

Quality:
Really well made unit. Durable and attractive.

Value:
A superb value for the money.

Sound:
This is a simple, yet flexible bass head that produces a lot of power. I play in a 300 seat auditorium and it produces plenty of power through a Genz 210 cabinet. Not a lot of controls, but by using the enhance button and tone controls, one can produce a pretty wide range of tonal variations. No reverb or "effects", but I put those through a foot controlled pre-amp if I want to fool around with more snazzy stuff.

I sort of wondered... what if I use it as a guitar amp, like they did with the Fender Bassman? I did! I used it with a Marshall cab.
Contour switch on ENHANCE, Compression ON. Adjust the tone controls to taste. I played with a Fender Tele DeLuxe (Japan) with DiMarzio's Virtual 2 pickups (neck, middle) and Tele Chopper (bridge). For distortion I used the Ibanez TS7/MS7. Sounds Great! Use the effects send/return loop for other effects.

I use the amp with a Fender 410 bass cabinet. I normally run an acoustic/electric bass through it. It gives me the warm acoustic sounds I prefer. I also run a Peavey solid body, active EQ bass through it and it gives me a very nice full bass frequency response. I've had the system for quite some time and I've not had any problems with it at all. It gives me all of the volume and power I need.

I purchased this amp with the idea that it would become my backup amp as soon as I had the money for a more powerful amp. This will happen, but not as fast as I expected. This budget amp ROCKS! I was playing thru a Peavey Basic 112 with a Carvin replacement speaker since my Sunn 400 head toasted itself, and the 1400 is much more versatile and adjustable than the Peavey, with a warmer sound.
Every musician who's checked it out has been impressed, especially for the little money I spent. I play a Fender Jazz with added active EMG's thru an Ampeg 15" Classic cabinet, and the sound fills small clubs nicely. It even covered a small outdoor gig acceptably well, although I really had to max it out. But, hey... at 8 ohms it's an 80 watt amp!
And, it sounds GOOD! In fact, my next amp may well be a Hartke, too!

It's a good reliable amp, nice sound, heaps of power. I use it in a band and i never need to go over half way, I use it with a 4x10 sovtech and it pumps. The EQ's are good but think you need more to have total control over the sound.

I have a soft spot for this little unit. I
thought it had great sound, but lacked in the
volume that I am accustomed to. For smaller
venues it is perfect but is just not quite
powerful enought in the larger venues. Still a
great little amp for most bass players and the
price is sweet.
