zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
As a B-3, XB-2, and XB-5 owner, the XK-2 has several advantages over the B-3 - it's got all the bells and whistles that were missing on the XB-2 like the original 6 vibrato/chorus effects, reverb & leslie brake/controls - plus it's sound is much richer. Be sure to get a hardshell case - it's worth the money this investment.

The XK-2 organ is a three-channel midi board. So, add a 25-note midi-pedalboard (R.W. Designs) + a lower manual midi-controller (any midi-synth) + a 2-rotor Motion Sound system = a 2-manual w/ pedalboard cookin' XK-2 organ setup weighing in at only 75 lbs total (+ stand and speakers). Hello! This means different drawbar settings on all three boards simultaneously! And only Hammond makes the true waterfall-type (square front) keys. Feels right. The sound? No one can believe their ears (me, too)!

Sound:
I owned an XB2 that gave up the ghost, and replaced it with the XK2. I thought the XB2 emulated the B3 very well, but the XK2 went even further. My neighbors asked me what type of organ I had, and I told them a Baldwin Spinet--which I don't play very much--because they would not believe that such a big sound comes out of such a small instrument.

I had a vk7, but lost it to a roof leak. I listened and played the xk2, and then reread the b-3 shootout in keyboard 99. It sounded closer to the b-2 I owned years ago. At first I didn't care for the Hammonds leslie simulator, but have made up a setup I like>STill need a 147 to do any of these simualators justice. No one else may be able to tell the difference, but I can.. Still, between the 2 I like the xk2 best overall

The beauty and range of sounds (and, yes, emotions) that you can create with the XK2 for the cost is very good. The reality is that you also need a dynamic quality sound system to complete the design of sounds that you seek. The available pedal board is nice. But if you are regularly transporting your equipment you need to be realistic. You should compare with the Korg Triton ($2400 retail) which has some nice moldable organ sounds as well without drawbars...

The organ functions and options are all top-notch, but the Leslie simulation is poor. The XK-2 is superb when used as a MONO unit (to salvage the chorus) played through a real Leslie or Motion Sound (Pro 3/Low Pro combination).

As a Hammond owner for 35+ years (L-143) I am spoiled by the quality and voicing of the instrument. When I heard this unit, it sent chills down my spine. Hammond has a winner here. I plan to add this to my stable of keyboards and eliminate some of the others. I've been looking for this sound in a small package for years. The big Hammond is not easy to move around.

I'm nineteen years old, I have been playing hammond organs for about that long. Our house came with a b3 and a leslie 147 just because the owner did not want to move it. I grew up year by year just banging around on it not realizing what I was doing. In the years to come...I became more interested in what it had to offer...at about 14 years old I had been playing in competitions around upstate new york or wherever my dad would want to drive me to. At about 16 our house flooded completely. the beast was dead. I gave up on buying a new one...3000 bucks was a lot for a 16 year old. Recently, I was offered a free XK-2..jealous? After playing the XK-2..All the memories came back..forcing me to find a used 147 and get the complete sound. I could not be happier with this. Hammond kicks ass.
