Sound:
Very nice aggressive p bass type sound. It is very loud and clear for a passive bass. Mine sounds very very good for recording.
Feature:
I like the two volume controls. It pretty much does what a volume/tone does, except its novel and cool. The hardware is just as nice as my usa g&l. Mine also came with allot of flame in the neck. The finish is prefect. The pickups are just killer. Probably the best sounding passive pups i have ever heard.
Ease of Use:
Two volumes, four strigs. Doesnt get any easier.
Quality:
The finish is perfect. The neck pocket is perfect. Everything is pretty much perfect. Except mine came with the nut cut too low on the "D" string, so it rattles when played open. It also has two high frets. They are not so high that the notes fret out, but they are high enough to rattle much more than every other spot on the board. I have to use high tension nickle strings to prevent rattle. If i were to put some light gauge stainless steel strings on here, it would probably have to get a fret level to be playable. But with stiff .45-.105 nickles its fine. If it wasnt for that, i would give it a nine. no other flaws.
Value:
I got mine on blowout for $399. I wouldnt pay $599 for this bass though. For the price i paid its awesome. But for $600 i could get a carvin or a used usa fender.
Manufacturer Support:
G&l is tough to get ahold of. they have pretty poor customer service. I know this from past experience and asking them if they would fix the frets on this bass. They never answered me.
The Wow Factor:
Its not that cool from the perspective of visual aesthetics. I mean its a nice looking bass, but its not going to grap anyones attention with its looks. But it will grab your attention with its sound. Very nice recording bass. The sound in my head so to speak.
Overall:
I can see this as my main recording bass for rock music for sure. I dont think i could get a better sound. I could easily use it live too as a "bang around" bass. Its cheap, very nice, and easily replaceable.
