Can't say for sure if or how much the quality varies between pieces, but the guitar I received is definitely worth the $499 price point. Fast/slim neck and really cool color. The finish is different/weird, but I really, really like that as well. The only drawback is probably the bridge, but if you're on a budget, I wouldn't think that would be an immediate issue and can be upgraded down the line. I don't really have an issue with it, but can see where some folks may have an issue (frequent string breakers). Totally solid American made guitar for a great price.

I play this guitar through my Peavey Joe Satriani edition half stack. It is a Peavey JSX head and a slanted 4x12 400 watt cabinet. The guitar sounds amazing clean, mid distortion and ultra distortion sounds straight from hell. Love it! I will be playing many shows and recording a new album playing all instruments and singing/screaming all vocals soon using this and a couple other guitars I own.
