I purchased this guitar about 2 months ago and it continues to impress. I narrowed it down to this guitar and a j45 standard. I chose this one mainly because of the wider nut ( I have large hands ), and the red spruce top. Beyond that they are very similar in many ways. Seems to have a bit more bass than the j45 and it will get better with time. This guitar sounds great brand new but like all , all wood guitars it needs time to season ( open up ). The action, perfect. The intonation, spot on. Very easy to play with great sustain. Gibson is putting thicker fretboards on all their guitars now and dedicating more time to sanding the fretboard with a finer grit. The result is a very smooth and crisp fretboard much like ebony. The finish is beautiful and I love the pickguard. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I am not sure what the finish is called but it is lighter than the j45. Holds tune forever and a day, no joke, and I strum hard often. Grover open back tuners are cool. Some people don't care for the open back tuners but i like the appearance of them. All Grover tuners are very high quality and work as well as the other. It is just a matter of appearance. All and all its the best acoustic I have ever owned and I have some high end guitars. If you are looking at a j45 I strongly advise you to check this guitar out . I am not knocking the j45 it is an awesome guitar, but for the same price you get a little more. I think that being a limited run collectors edition that it will appreciate a bit quicker than the workhorse. It does come with a certificate of authenticity as well. Gibson has an excellent warranty also and exceptional customer service. Long story short, I had an explore that list for $1699. The neck cracked, bad piece of mahogany Gibson told me. They replaced it with a new Les Paul that list at $2900. Yes $1300 more than the one I purchased that was defective. That is customer service. I have purchased many items from Zzounds and have no complaints. Their payment plan is great, most of us can't afford to drop 3 grand on a guitar. They make it easy. This is a great guitar and a great investment, check it out.
