I LOVE the Burstbucker Pro's on this. Nice and crunchy. Yum. Chambered but didn't lose much (I know a solid, heavy older LP is going to have more sustain, that's just how it is) sustain. Pretty close to the non chambered, but if anyone tells you it didn't lose any sustain, I'd say bs, but with so many effects these days you really can't tell, if you use a compressor, you won't notice any difference. Here are two things that I think, first, if you want the finish to last, go to stewmac.com and order some nitrocellulose clear coat. I'd tape everything off and remove the tail piece (id leave the pickups on and the posts in and just tape all that up) and spray a few coats. It'll seal the colors on and you can learn how to wet sand and buff clear coat. I make models and have painted and sealed for years and there is nothing to it. Just make sure to make your coats thin. Many thin vs few heavy. Anyone will tell you that. Then wet sand at 2000 grit, then buff out with polish. I use Plastic polish. it's made to make transparent plastic basically perfect, I've used it on my other guitars and it works well. Also, the back of this is black. which is nice, as I'm considering sanding the neck down slightly. Just a bit to take the furthest end off the C shape and flatten it out a bit to my liking. I plan to use Stewmac.com for black Nitro to paint it after that and before I clear coat it. There is some wood grain feel to the neck as it is, sanding, repainting and clearcoating it and buffing it out will get it glass smooth. For less than a hundred bucks I'll have a professional level LP set up to my liking with the neck exactly where I want it. You don;t have to do any of this, you can just play it as is and it's beautiful. I'm just pointing out options.

This is my first Gibson and I'm amazed at the playability compared to the Epiphone version of this Guitar ( I have a Epiphone Les Paul custom). The action is great and the sound is awesome. I've had no prob with the paint in with the cherry one.

"Gibson Studio"

The guitar sounds great, plays great, and it looks beautiful when you first get it. However, the paint job is sheer garbage. If you rub your fingernail aginst it, the paint literally chips off. Every time I play the guitar, it nicks. I contacted Gibson, and they said that's how it's supposed to be. What a joke! I've been playing guitar for 30 years and I've never had a guitar with a cheaper paint job. If you wan't a guitar that's going to road wear like crazy, this one's for you. I guess you have to pay over $2000.00 for a quality product from Gibson. Shame on Gibson!
