Feature:
I bought this guitar as soon as the became available. It's one of the first in the unlimited run. Talk about authentic vibe...wow! I've owned this guitar since the 1st of February 2005 and have done over a hundred gigs with it. the coil tapping system makes this guitar very versitale. I can get that true vintage tone, not only of a Les Paul, but as you learn to split the coils , adjust knobs and what have you, you can pull a damn nice strat sound from this guitar. My friend who owns a number of Les Pauls as I do, said the neck "just isn't fair." He had a couple of fat necked 58's that have since been removed from his collection for what else...
Quality:
This guitar is a workhorse. Not only have I done over a 100 gigs, but a ton of jams and guest appearences. I've been told I play very aggressively, I don't know how true that is, but it's been nothing but a pleasure to own. I'm getting a second one as I write this review. Don't miss out if you have the chance to own one or even play one.
Value:
It's not cheap. Even at my price, but as I said I'm getting another. Sometimes you just have to do it. This is a precission instrument not just an every day item. The only reason I'm not scoring a 10 here is that no matter how you slice it, it's a lot of cash.
Desirability:
Again as I said earlier, sometimes I just sit and stare at it as if it were a beautiful women(I'm lusting for). Sex appeal to the max! From fingers to my ears it draws such passion. Undescribable...
Sound:
I run straight through a 40 watt fender deluxe or my 30th anniversary 100 watt Marshall. I always seem to have someone commenting on my tone, even when plugging into an amp at a blues jam(often solid state amps which are not my preference).Played through a marshall at a music store the salesman said it was the greatest tone he had ever heard! Make sure you work with the guitar a while to truly find all the tones that are available or you might be dissappointed.
Ease of Use:
Can't beat the action and this smooth skinny neck. I play this guitar 3 to 4 hours a day in total comfort and I own nearly 30 guitars including three other Les Pauls! The aged finish is way too cool. I had a Gibson authorized repair shop put an aged cover over the bridge pickup and it fooled a collecter(well he was more of a guy who buys vintage to sell, still don't know how anyone can part with a Les Paul). Anyway, he asked what year my vintage guitar was and was totally amazed when I said it was new. The the appointments are unbelievable. The finish is so authentic it sometimes fools me as I just sit and stare at it's beauty.
Support:
So far so good.
Overall:
Always satsfied. I've compared it to many of the Gibson VOS models and they are great guitars but I would spend two months salary to replace it if ever needed. The only thing I disliked about it is the fact that everyone wants to play it and sometimes I feel bad saying NO! Sometimes...
