"2013 LPJ"

I received a 2013 Gibson LPJ in vintage shade as a Christmas gift. The guitar is an absolute beauty. I did install EMG 57/66 black brushed chrome pickups for extra output and quiet recording. (excellent pickups BTW!) This guitar is now a screamer with nice clean neck P/U sounds. Could I step up to a custom or some other prettier LP model? Certainly, but for my look and style of playing - this was the one. The only negative is the neck. It was professionally setup twice before the tech said it was twisted and needed manufacturer reworking. I could see this as it's not a "true" les paul and on the cheaper end of models. Being a maple neck is not the best either. It took just over a month for Gibson to fix and then I was not reimbursed for shipping the jacked up guitar back. But they fixed and I have played a few days. Finally this baby rocks again! I would recommend that someone plays one before buying, but it's a great guitar when it is setup right.

I been wanting a real Gibson Les Paul for 25yrs and now I finally have one. The LPJ has that true Les Paul look, feel and great sound. The '61' re-issues pickups have good sound, but will be replacing then in the future. I highly recommend the Gibson LPJ to anyone wanting a real Les Paul, but like myself can not spend over a grand on a guitar.

The quality of this guitar is amazing. I've heard a lot about Gibson's lack of QC. This ones Great. I've owned A few Les Paul's over the years. this one sounds great. It would be nice to have the pickup split but its cool.

After becoming more than a little attached to my 2014 SG I accepted a challenge and ordered a 2014 LPJ from ZZounds. The order itself had a few curves but the nice folks at zZounds got everything sorted out. The guitar itself is simply great. I thought I had an idea of what the tone would be with the '61s on this LP body. I was very pleasantly surprised that the tone I fell in love with on my SG is magnified by the extended range of the LPJ. My guitar showed no flaws in finishing and is perfectly setup for me. The longer I own it the more privileged I feel to own such a great instrument.

First let me say that zZounds has done everything for me they could, short of actually playing this guitar for me. This guitar arrived in impeccable condition, excellent setup out of the box. I knew what to expect with the '61s as I bought an SGJ-also from zZounds- a short time back. Fair to say I'm a fan. The quality of this guitar is amazing. I thank Gibson for building such great guitars and zZounds for putting them in my hands. I would hate to be a competitor of Gibson's in 2014.
