"What I expected"

I was wanting this particular model (the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe) for many years and this was a good chance to get one.. as they have only been produced in limited runs now and then since being discontinued in '83. This is my fourth Gibson guitar and everything was exactly as I expected it to be. My original intent was to rip out the mini humbuckers and install P90's.. but ended up replacing only the bridge pickup with a fat, overwound mini humbucker which does a nice job of producing a P90-ish tone without the hum. I already own a 60's tribute LP with P90's btw. All in all.. this guitar filled a hole in my collection with plenty of class, style, and tone to spare.

2012 goldtop deluxe les paul. should have been a blemished sale. the top looks like it was sanded by a child.. it is wavy and bumpy and i can see the flaws from 20 feet away. also, while the nut was cut properly it was sanded too much after the fact and the d string pops out of the slot. i will be returning this one and trying another, i hope its better finish wise because otherwise this is a great guitar, it sounds like no other les paul and plays great.
Sound
wonderful sound, rich gibson tone. perfect for blues or any other music that lets the guitars tone shine through.
Quality
construction wise its perfect, cosmetically its a horror show. wavy top sanding, fish eyes, painting over dents...

I bought one of these last year and it is a fantastic guitar. Not too heavy, is well balanced and the body is flawless. Great rich tones coming out makes it one of the best modern guitars at a modest price. I love it!!

Been playing since I was 15 years old. I play guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and keyboard.

I will not complain as this is a Les Paul with Gloss for 1,500 dollars, but the finish had weird discoloration or overspray in areas that the gold looked darker. As if the pointed the pray gun and over did it in areas, very uneven and blotchy! I like distressed guitars, so I guess as it wears it will just look cool and again 1,500 not bad!Gibson saved money by using a circuit board for the pots etc. But all easily replaceable. For the finicky, not recommended. for the player, sure!

Just got this guitar for Xmas! It's absolutely beautiful, and plays great. Excellent tone, but no sustain....?? One call to Zzounds, and they are exchanging it for me, as lack of susuatin is likely a problem with the electronics. Zzonds customer service is EXCELLENT!!!
