Furman SPB8 Stereo Pedalboard with Power Conditioner

The Furman SPB-8 is the first pedalboard designed with the working professional in mind. The power cable is NOT detachable.

Feature:
Aside from the wonderful sturdy board, the power filtering is excellent, as our 110v supply is very noisy. Like the patch bay, too, though don't need it for my setup.

Value:
I can't believe I got this for as little as I did considering what I paid for the one I replaced with it (SKB).

Sound:
N/A -- this is a pedal board

Overall:
I wish I'd gotten this initially instead of the SKB pedal board -- much sturdier, better patch bay and clean power. Looks like it will last for YEARS.

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
Feature:
The materials it included were multiple power cables. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any velcro or patch cables (but then again, I haven't seen one that has offered those).

Quality:
This product seems like it's made very well. The only thing I question is the reliability of the gig bag. I've heard horror stories of the handles ripping off over extended gigging. The pedalboard is built like a rock and, like Boss pedals, should survive a nuclear explosion. I've noticed no problems from the jacks; they seem sturdy and reliable enough for me. I'm a set it and forget it kind of guy... I'll hook it up and once I'm done, I won't mess with it.

Value:
It's pricey, but I feel you get what you pay for. If you want quality power conditioning, a powerful mono/stereo pedal routing system... it delivers in spades. It deducts points for the gig bag, but it looks like for the most part Furman nailed it. I paid $220 for it a while back and don't regret it.

Desirability:
It looks professional and for a very good reason... it "is" professional. It looks sleek and powerful and it does exactly what it sets out to do.

Sound:
It's a pedalboard. I notice no added noise, hiss or humb associated with it. Many professionals rely on Furman power conditioners in their rack setups and as a big pedal user, I rely on this board to give me the purest power conditioning possible.

Overall:
This product works great. One thing I noticed is that with big pedals like the Hughes & Kettner stuff, some of the Line 6 stuff, wah pedals etc. there isn't lots of room to fit other pedals in. A bit more space might not be a bad idea. A more well built gig bag might be a thing to consider as well. If this product were lost or stolen, I would consider a SKB PS-45 (it looks like it has virtually everything one could possibly ask for). I love the power conditioning, looks, and durability. I dislike the gig bag and wish there was a bit more space (although it does hold my 7 pedals fine right now).

The Furman pedalboard has almost everything a guitar player could ask for. Universal power supplies for any type of pedal you could play off of... obviously room for all the pedals, and an all velcro bottom heavy enough i could flip it upside down w/out my pedals even moving!

Skb didnt live up to my expectations when it came to a pedalboard.. i have two of the Line 6 pedals (distortion and delay), those alone would take up most of the room on the skb board, whereas the Furman has plenty of room, and is able to supply power for it.

The is only one negative comment i have about the Furman pedalboard is that it has a soft case. For what i do i really need a hard shell, to protect all my pedals. Although, it still does a very good job at protecting everything inside of the case.

so far, its been the best thing i've invested my money in.

Feature:
The only accessories with this pedal board is a few power cables for your pedals and the soft case - which won't last a busy schedule over a year. My handles vinyl/leather wraps have ripped off and the zipper is about to die. I need to find a new case.

Quality:
This pedal board is built like a tank. It's kind of heavy, but it is very solid. I particularly like the amount of space and the built in power supply. The onw thing I do not like about the board is how the power cable exits the power supply case vertically up through the case, rather than out the side. The cable is rather thick and can easily get in the way of your pedals. I tuck the cable under the pedal board's corner... It doesn't wobble when I do that.

Value:
On sale - absolutely worth it. If I was going to buy it new, I would buy the SPB-8C - its got a hard shell case!

Desirability:
Furman is well respected name brand. I do appreciate owning a "Furman".

Sound:
With the pedals correctly cabled in the appropriate order based on where each pedal is in the chain, this board is very quiet - it doesn't get in the way of the signal or sound whatsoever.

Ease of Use:
The patch bay DOES work! Be sure to read the instructions. There are different options based on your particular needs. Looking at it without reading about it might not get you the satisfaction you hope for. It's not a perfectly intuitive patch bay - it's pretty good, but it's easy to get confused.

Support:
I have not dealt with Furman yet... although at the moment I'm waiting to hear from them regarding getting a new soft case.

Overall:
I'll probably end-up using this until I know I've beaten on it long enough... perhaps a few years, maybe longer - or until a better pedal board comes around.

Feature:
The only things I've had problems with are (1) the velcro doesn't stick to the bottom of my pedals too good (I glued them to the velcro and now store it horizontally - works better) and (2) the soft shell case...this thing can get upwards of 45-50 lbs with six or seven HQ boxes on it, which is way too heavy for a soft shell, one strap (without any padding, mind you) bag. The size is good, just include something heavy-duty enough with which to cart it around. Will probably have a custom made case with wheels made for it eventually...lately I've purposely not brought it to rehearsals because carrying it around causes back pain (and I'm not some old fart!). Other than these things, the fact that it has a built in stereo patch bay is way cool...you can always add to it, attach a satellite board, etc. Good construction and durability.

Sound:
No Noise here...check your cables, people.

Feature:
Well the features would be great if they all worked. I consider the patchbay to be a major feature, but it is worthless and the input jacks are very cheap.

Quality:
Again everything about this product is good, but for the patchbay, I would count on the inputs jacks breaking in no time if you do decide to try to use the terrible sounding patchbay.

Value:
I sopose that compared to other items this is the best of them. But again without the use of the patchbay all that it is, is a board a power supply and a bag. That's not much.

Sound:
Everything about the product is good except..... the patchbay, the signal loss is terrible. You just can't use it. The power supply is very quiet, the velco board is quality and the bag is nice. But..... the patchbay is worthless.

Support:
As far as I know good.... they did respond to my e-mail. But there is not much they can do about it.

I am retunring my Furman pedal board due to the outrageous amount noise coming from the unit. I am certain it is from the board. If I bypass the board in the chain and go direct to the amp i get little noise, (except from my UNquieted Beast) I called Furman's tech guy and he said that they use inferior parts to save the consumer $$. I tried contact spay to clean the connections, with no luck. Geez this thing is pricey enough, and i thought Furman was a solid manufaturer. Ive seen many other reports about this same prob. I would not reccomend this. Im gonna try the skb 25 however I've not heard great things about it either.
