Furman has a rep in the industry and there is a reason for it. Yeah, it IS expensive. But protecting $40,000 dollars worth of preamps in a mobile rack - well - you do the math. I can say with no doubt that the power conditioning that this unit does, absolutely will make a difference in the sound. Cleaner power = less noise. Period. This goes for stereo equipment, TV picture, guitar amps, keyboards, mixers, video cameras, basically any electronic device associated with the entertainment industry will hugely benefit from clean, regulated power. This might make a drastic difference in sound quality, or picture, or it may not. Either way if you have thousands of dollars worth of sound or video equipment not residing only in a professional recording studio you need this or something like it. Furman is my recommendation for any home theater owner or travelling soundman or videographer or recordist or DJ or just if you have an expensive stereo. The price of this is indeed high, but if because of the horrendous voltage that emanates from your wall sockets you blow out a couple Neves or a Mark Levinson monoblock you will sorely wish you had bought one. I bought several and I hate to spend money.

I get that you need to protect your gear, but at what price? It's a great unit, it's got some weight to it as well. I don't hear any improvement to the overall sound quality though.
