Feature:
If you place them correctly you won't need any features 'cause you don't get any. I think you don't need any though with them. Do it the old fashioned way and listen to your room - don't be so lazy! lol
Quality:
Really well made. Hard to scratch the casing and front panel. There's zero protection for the speakers so be careful in transport (very scary indeed). Bottom line - they're not crap! As well made as monitors four times the price I'd say.
Value:
The pm1's are worth the price!!! They're just worth having as a near-field monitor. Don't bother getting anything else unless you're willing to pay the bigger bucks.
Desirability:
They look kinda average which I'd say is good. Most speakers look pretty good theses days. The fact that they don't have 'bells and whistles' all over them makes me want them. They're more of a practical addition to a studio.
Sound:
They really sound great, especially considering the price. You won't find a better speaker for tracking if you paid three or four times as much. I've done numerous mixes with them and we're now ready to toss the ns-10's on ebay. My ears are used to hearing $40,000 genelecs at Sony Sydney and I'm not turned off by my PM1's when I get home so...! Some have said that they sound like Genelecs. I'm not sure that they sound like them but they certainly compare well with the Genelec 1029A except the fostex had much better bottom end. Just make sure nothing is place between them like a crt monitor etc, it wrecks the bass field. The bottom end is tight and well defined. You can hear every little thing happening down there but I'd like just a tad more. They sound the same soft or loud - you gotta know that's good! The higher mids tend to jump out a bit but you get used to it. Everything else is just right. The pm1's are a good sounding, non-fatiguing speaker if placed correctly in a room.
Support:
Can't say. However, when ordered the distributer delivered pronto. No messing around. Not sure if that has anything to do with Fostex.
Overall:
I'll never get rid of these. I might upgrade but they'll come in handy for something no matter what I buy in the future. Even just listening to music from a computer is enjoyable so I'll never retire them. However, I've yet to hear the PM2's.
