"Clean sound, plenty of bite and warmth."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
These pups do what I need them to, and give me a good solid Fender sound. "Vintage" enough to claim the Fender name and just hot enough to make the tone distinct.
Sound
Good midrange and plenty of twang available. Slightly warmer than stock, which is good with Position 2 Strat use (Bridge/Middle). Pickups record well. Using them live with both production and custom pedals has been great, as well as running them straight through a Hot Rod Deluxe.
Features
Mounting screws are a bit difficult to tap initially until you get the hang of what is expected. Instead of using the screws themselves, I used a compatible tap and die set to make the cuts. This was easier to control and resulted in a much cleaner installation.
Ease of Use
Sounds great straight out of the box. Highs cut, mids are "there" and the bass is very present without being overwhelming. These were installed in a custom Strat copy and have performed very well.
Value
I got my set about 3 years ago before the price rose. I'm happy with the cost.
Manufacturer Support
Called Fender Custom Shop with the question about tapping the screws and got a quick answer from the first person (real live -person-) I talked to, who gave me the suggestion of using the tap and die set. He said the trouble with most installations was that people tend to try to simply muscle the screws through the untapped holes, which is perfectly fine, but can be error-prone.

"Transformation complete..entry level Strat becomes King!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
These pickups stay where they are. It brough new life into and entry level instrument that I believe can go head to head with the best.
Features
Can't say I appreciate the flathead scews included in this kit. It requires too much work to get these to tread properly. The fender partial self tapping scerews are much easier to work with. Even those that come stock on Korean Squire series are a breeze to work with. Problem results with the fact that these pickups are dunked in wax.
Ease of Use
These pickups once installed will transform a low cost entry level strat into a playing machine that has character, drive and a whole new presence.
Quality
Only error I found was the placement of the blue and red indicator dots on the manual. Confused me for a second but follow the wiring path to insure you don't put these upside down.
Value
Hey for 200 bucks you can go riff to riff with the best of strats. If you're lucky enough to find an entry level strat that "feels" good, these pickups are the ticket!
The Wow Factor
The overwinding of these pick ups give you a hotter but not brittle bright sound. A fender twin kind of 'highs' but not a wah wah pedal to the floor 'screetch'. Stevie Ray must have (or would have) given these a thumbs up

They sound great and are better quality than standard--have no reason to change.
Sound
A good hot single coil pickup--with out losing the strat sound.
Features
Has all the features I need.
Ease of Use
I play SRV--I have these pickups in all my strats.
Quality
I have had these pickups in 6 Strats--some going back 14 years. No problems at all--except one middle pickup went out and was replaced.
Value
I think a lot of pickups are just overpriced period not just these.
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Fender.

Fender Texas Special Strat Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
SRV's pickups.
Features
The mids output is increased over the standard strat pickups.
The Wow Factor
If you don't want the single coil pickups and the hum, buy something else. If you like that real strat styling and the rawness of the late 60's, 70's, and 80's these are the pickup for you.
