"The beast"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I bought my Mustang last year and have never looked back. I am a gigging musician in a rock cover band that needed a wide variety of tone, plenty of power, and a dependable piece of equipment. The Mustang gives me great tones without having to lug around a huge pedalboard. I only need to bring a wah-wah! I also rarely have to mic the amp to a PA because this amp can easily handle small to medium gigs. Most of the time, I never push the volume knob past 4.5. Seriously, this amp saved me a lot of money. My bandmate was so impressed, he went out and bought a Mustang IV. Now we both have matching amps, but we are still able to keep different tones due to the Mustang's huge versatility.
Sound
The presets are a great start, but I found that some tweaks were necessary. It took me roughly 2 hours to go through the amp's settings and adjusting. I mainly touched the Treble and Volume settings. My guitar has a very high treble output so this may not be needed for every player.
Features
For me, the best feature is the included effects. Having several types of delays, reverbs, and chorusing effects has expanded my sound to the horizon.
Ease of Use
At first it is daunting when you realize the millions of sounds you can get. Just find a few of your favorite presets, then make tweaks. Your changes are very easily saved with a click of a button.
Quality
Very solid construction. I'm gigging roughly every other weekend. This amp has been tossed, dropped, spilled on, etc. and this thing still sounds as smooth as when I first plugged in.
Value
The value is ridiculously good. Many other amps are great, but the price is high mainly for brand names. I hate paying for a brand. Fender is a great brand and the Mustang is budget friendly.
Manufacturer Support
I've never needed support.
The Wow Factor
Many snobby guitarists came up to me before a gig and said that digital modelling sucks. I shut them up after our first set. I simply said, "I get just as good of a sound as you and I paid $500...Suck it."

"Very Good Amp"

I was looking for a modeling amp that sounded very close to whatever amp it was imitating, after reading all the reviews i decided to try this amp so i went ahead and bought it. The first amp that i got, I had to return it due to a factory defective speaker. When I called, the guy at zZounds was very friendly and helpful and since I was under zZounds 45 days return policy I was able to return the defective amp and get a new replacement. The amp itself was exactly what I was looking for. Very easy to get the sound that you want, you just have to spend some time tweaking the effects and the amps that it imitates. Don't expect to sound just like the real amp that it imitates but the sound is very good and close. Extremely easy to change your sound and the clean sound is amazing. Large display, big control knobs on top of the amp, the fender fuse software is awesome, looks and feel well build yet is very light to carry. I love my amp and definitely I recommend it to other musicians.
Sound
The sound is very clean and the amp itself is very loud. You can start with some presets and build your own patches from there. I play diverse styles and I can adjust my sound accordingly. Good for practice and for small to large venues and you can always connect it to a PA with the back connections. Spend some time with it and you will get any sound out of it.
Features
Very good features. The 4 buttons included pedal can function in 3 different ways. I love the control knobs on top of the amp. Tons of simulated amps and effects. Very useful and accurate built in tuner.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use and setup.
Quality
Time will tell about the quality of this amp. I only had this amp for 2 months. I had a bad experience with my first one but I wont judge it because a factory defect. so far so good with my new replacement
Value
Has a lot more to offer that other brands in its class for similar price
Manufacturer Support
Have not call Fender for support yet
The Wow Factor
Impressive amp with very good sound and features

WOW is this Mutha !@#$% is F'n loud!!! the presets are nice , and easy to get the hang of ! I'm kind of a "stoner guy", so it took me a week to fully figure this sexy beast out. I love that the 4 and 5 come with the 4 button foot switch! and if your already computer savvy of any kind the fuse software is very easy to use and is nicely done. once you figure out how to make your own rigs then the possibilities are almost endless! My opinion! I've been playing since I was ten and I'm 38 and I've been playing Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Prog Rock, Acoustic Rock, Coffee Shop, and Jam band with a little jazz here and there over 28 years so I definitely know what a tube sound and solid state sound... sound like ! (SMH! I think i said that right?!) Dude! this Amp gets pretty Darn Close for a solid state !! My Band plays lots of 90's,80's Stoner rock covers and this gem hits the tones that we need ! I can't achieve the Brown note though LOL!!! Best Wishes,Klynt Wilhelmi

I could not be happier with my order. It sounds great and is easy to use.
Sound
Before anybody screams about modeling amps "not sounding as good as a tube amps" give it a try before you judge. How many people do you think are actually going to know the difference? That one or two veteran guitar players that might be in earshot. This amp comes with all kinds of amp cabinets and effects. I can find just about any sound I am looking for with just the presets that come on it. its plenty loud and clear along with enough bass to give my house a good jolt.
Features
the features are great. From the many options for sound to the four switch foot pedal included with it to the built in tuner the features are awesome. There are so many settings for an infinite amount of sounds.
Ease of Use
Pick a preset and go if you want or make your own sound with the easy options.
Quality
Very good quality product.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to call support for this product and I am not really sure if i will need to until the thing is so old its falls apart lol.

Overall I think this is a great amp. Very durable construction, great sound, tons of options. The ONLY complaint I have is that it did not come with a users manual. You are left to figure everything out for yourself. So far it hasn't been too bad to figure out but there are still a few things I would like to know. You can go to the fender website and see an online users manual but I would just rather have one that comes with the amp when purchased. Thee are 100 presets you can access which are great. The tones and sounds are just beautiful, especially when you crank up the volume. This is my first amp with built in effects and so far I love it. You can alter, change, remove or add, delays, tremelos, phasers, and lots of other effects, overdrives, etc...Seems to be a great all around amp.

great amp sounds amazing this amp does so much , I don't think I'll ever learn it all I just don't see me ever needing to buy another amp because you can basically make it sound any tone you want it to. Tone to Taste if you will. With the fuse software, especially, the tonal possibilities seem endless.

This is a nice sounding amp especially at the price level it comes in at and it doesn't weigh a ton. No tubes to worry about and the features pretty much allow you to forget about buying pedals. I bought the blemished one offered and I still haven't found the blemish. Good job zZounds.

"A keeper"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review is based on two and a half years of ownership. I thoroughly enjoyed using the Mustang IV V.2. almost exclusively for two years, until about six months ago. At that time, I purchased a used Twin Reverb and have used it almost exclusively since then, until three nights ago. This is when I went back to the Mustang IV for a visit. At no time over the last three nights did I find myself cringing or yearning to warm up the Twin. There was plenty to keep me happily playing longer than I thought. If have never owned a tube amp, you will not know what you're missing, including the price. That said, there really is no fair comparison between the Mustang's Twin Reverb model and the real thing. Close but no cigar. I suspect this is the case with most if not all of the amp models and effects available with the Mustang IV. However, do not let the aforementioned dissuade you from buying one. The cost would be staggering to replicate the Mustang's features with the originals. Effects petals alone would far exceed the cost of this amp. Not to mention one would need a dedicated music room with enough space to accommodate the plethora of amps and effects. Also from a practical perspective, the Mustang IV is loud enough and with decent enough tone for a good sized gig to low volume living room play. Moreover, the Mustang performs equally well with single coils and humbuckers. If close is good enough, get one. The bang for the buck is tough to beat. If you've owned a tube amp, the Mustang is well worth checking out. The technology has come a very long way. Odds are if you are honest with yourself, you may be pleasantly surprised. Try it, you might like it. No tubes to warm up. No tubes to replace. The Mustang certainly cannot be called a one trick pony. If heavy metal is your exclusive genre, there may be better options. Otherwise, the Mustang IV V2 is a keeper, along with a Twin Reverb...

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I think this amp will please advanced players who love Fender amps and love playing bluesy rock or classic rock type tones. The unmodified amp models sound great and are about 85-90% sound of the originals. Some of the clean modified presets sound a little brittle and slight harsh treble with single coils but with humbuckers would sound better. The first preset 00 "Liquid Solo" us worth the amp alone period. The sound and tone of this amp is incredible. A must buy even for an all-tube nut like me who loves all the high Fender amps like the Super Reverb, Vibro-King, 57 Bassman, 65 Twin, etc.

"Fender Mustang IV"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Bought the Fender Mustang IV here on zZounds as a downsize from the 100w tube half-stack I had been using for a couple of years. I wanted something with plenty of headroom and solid state / digital reliability but with a variety of good tones that could be used both live and during recording.
Sound
First of all, sweet merciful crap is this amplifier loud. I figured this would maybe be about half as powerful as the tube amp it replaced. Despite it being a solid state and having only 2 speakers, it is just as, if not more, loud. That said, when you do get the chance to crank it anywhere above 20% master volume, the qualities of the Celestion speakers really ring out. Of the amp models, the Fender cleans and the brown-ish OD are pretty fantastic, especially the '57 Twin, '59 Bassman, and '65 Twin Reverb models. The higher gain amps don't fare so well until the Sag, Bias, and Cabinet simulation are tweaked appropriately - for instance, the Fender Super Sonic model sounds pretty thin and boxy until the Bias is cranked up and the cabinet is changed to the Bassman setting, then the high gain model sounds pretty authentic. There are some great high-gain tones here, but they are not as easily accessible and require more fine-tuning to get there than the lower-gain models. The effects are nice, specifically the Greenbox (TS808) overdrive, the simple compressor, and the reverbs, but it's unlikely I'll use many of the modulation effects. The delays are also quite nice, especially since the amp is wired in stereo. Overall, I feel like Fender has turned a corner in digital amp modeling here, with several great sounding models instead of a few merely usable ones. One thing of note, the amp does not accept pedals well (not that you'll need many). This is to be expected, but I know someone is going to ask.
Features
What feature doesn't this amplifier have? If I had to give one negative here, it's that the compressor effect is a "stompbox" so unfortunately it can't be activated in conjunction with an overdrive stompbox setting. Otherwise, between the amp and the Fender fuse software, you can do just about anything with this amp. It even has a speaker-emulated headphone out, an auxiliary in, stereo effects send and return, and a stereo xlr line out. It also comes with a 4-button footswitch that makes managing all the features on stage pretty easy - and the footswitches can 've programmed to your liking on the amp, as well.
Ease of Use
It's not terrifically easy to just dove right in and get great tones - most of the presets are frankly terrible - but a little time spent with the LCD-screen and GUI and it all starts to make sense. Not as complicated as some modeling amplifiers, but the feature-richness could overload many who just want to plug and play.
Quality
The cabinet is a little on the thin side, and at a hair under 50 pounds, its pretty light for a 2x12 combo - understandable, given that there's only digital circuitry here. Everything feels solid and well put-together. Probably won't withstand a decade of touring, but then again, you could buy three of these things for the price of a single high-powered Fender tube combo. The footswitch feels especially solid, being quite heavy and substantial with satisfying clicks from all the switches.
Value
Seriously, it's unreal how much amp you get for 500 bucks here. Loud enough to register on a seismograph, versatile enough to use for almost any style, and tuneful enough to convince even the most hardened boutique amp snobs. The Fender Bassman and '65 Twin models are worth the price of admission alone, and the Super Sonic does much better high gain than many comparably-priced tube amps - and at much higher volumes.
The Wow Factor
Looks good, sounds great, big value. Love it.

I purchased this amp after owning the 40 watt with the 12" speaker, which I gigged with in a 3 peace band in small venues. I missed the sound in the larger venues. Enter this tone monster. If you work with it you can find what you need in the way of sound and tone. It has never let me down from Blues, Jazz, Country, Classic Rock. As for the High Gain Metal, I don't do it. I Can't testify on the accuracy. But it is a very versatile amp with good volume and effects. The software works very well. Having said all that I will say that "Yes, I would buy it again." The only other amp I am interested in, mainly out of curiosity, is the Peavey Vypyr Pro-100 and the Peavey Sanpera Pro Foot Controller. I believe from having watched Peavey demo that it might be more versatile because of the Sanpera Pro Foot Controller.
