Feature:
The Mexi Jazzes come pretty bare bones, but, at their price level, I was able to get a nice tolex case, Korg rack mount tuner, a spare set of strings and still paid less than a new bass from CA would have cost me.
Quality:
Very surprised at the high quality fo fit and finish on this guitar. The sunburst color looks great all knobs have good, solid feel when turned, all hardware firmly attached and straight.
Value:
After playing both, I found very little difference between this bass and higher priced alternatives. Higher priced basses usually offer more in the way of accessories...but you do pay for them.
Desirability:
Fenders are pretty basic guitars but that's what makes them great. Most players will want a Fender in stock of guitars at some point. The mexican models make it a little easier on the wallet.
Sound:
Great Fender Jazz growl. I use this bass mainly for the classic rock covers in our set; perfect sound for that. Performs well live or in the studio, although, the classic 60 cycle hum has to be dealt with. Excellent player; neck is just right in size and feel. I play my Jazz through an SWR Workingman's stack(400W head, 4X10 over 1X15 cabs. Great combination; unbelievably good value.
Support:
Haven't had to deal with them for any reason so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Overall:
I will wear this guitar out; it has the tone I love most in a bass. I have added an active 5-stringer from Ibanez; we play mostly cover tunes and a lot contemporary music uses the 5-string.
