40+ years of playing and dozens of guitars later,I think this guitar is terrific value. History has shown that players can't decide what's hot and what's not; for example ten years ago the Japanese models were laughable junk, now they're sought after????? The same is true for the Mexican models of today; oooooh that's not a US Strat. Big deal, if an American model makes you play better, spend the bucks, but I'll bet your playing won't improve a bit!!!

I bought this guitar sunburst model and seriously can not tell the difference between this and my dads 65 american made strat. I have been playing for 20 years and this is a great guitar. The only thing I have changed are the pickups. I have installed texas specials and well its everything an great axe should be. And the value is unbelievable. Well worth the bucks.

What can i say? its a strat that built like how a real strat should be and sounds like how a real strat should. One thing to watch out for though: test the guitar thoroughly before purchase! really the only difference between this and a US reissue is a thousand bucks and the labor. when i bought mine, i was excited and all so i didn't really check. but later, i realized that a lot of the higher frets were really messed up and that the tension was all wrong. well, an hour and a half with a screw driver (access to the truss rod is through the body)and some sand paper and i was good to go... but it was still a pain to have adjusted it!

Quality control has never been better at the Fender factories. Your chances of getting a really good sounding strat via mail-order now are certainly better than your chances of finding one of equal quality at your local music store in the early 60's. I was there and I know that sure there were some instruments made that were noteworthy even legendary sonically but there were alot of pieces of junk also. Most were just nicely made electric guitars suitable for a wide range of players and styles. JUST LIKE NOW! I love the C-shaped neck.
