This is an incredible bass. I was reluctant at first to purchase. I decided to take a chance on this particular Fender from China. This bass is very well made. It is totally a beautiful looking bass, as far as first impression goes. This is plays very warm. I play jazz, old school Motown, and funk. This is now, one of my favorite basses to play. It was set up right out the box. I just had to tune, and play. Usually have to do my personal tweaking, and setup. Very smooth action, Very responsive pick ups, everything works as far as the electronics. This bass is a keeper. But, I say again, it is a beautiful bass. You will not be disappointed. Do not get hung up on "made in the U.S". This is a real nice bass, that is very affordable. I own 4 other Fenders, 3 Ibanez BTBs, and a Ric. My review is not being posted by newbie to the bass world. I have been playing bass since 1995. I say, don't judge a bass before you play it, or bass off public opinion. This bass is all that you would expect in a Semi-Hollow Bass.
Ease of Use
If you know how to play a 4 string bass. There is no learning curve. This bass is easy to play. Many sounds and tones available. Like any bass, just have to play around with it, to achieve the sounds and tones you are looking for. I use both pick ups, but the selector toggle switch is fully functional, so you can alternate between the bridge and neck.
Quality
For a production made bass. This bass is very well constructed. The detail in the craftsmanship is the beauty of this bass.
Value
Very affordable. Price is the same as online stores. The payment plan ZZounds offers, makes this a great buy financially.
Manufacturer Support
I based and rated my Manufacture Support a 4 star rating. Because, of ZZounds. I have never had an issue. But I was missing a tool, for another bass I had purchased. Never had a problem receiving my item.
The Wow Factor
I have this bass in black. Photo pictures, does not show this bass true justice. This bass is sexy, and bad azz. Plain and simple.

Let me start off by saying that this is a great bass, period. Not "for the money" or "compared to this or that". Simply great. I've played a lot of basses in my day, my previous favorite being a '78 maple neck P-Bass. This plays like a Stingray, feels like a P-bass, and sounds like nothing else on the market. The dual WRHBs give fantastic thump through a set of 10s. Put this thing into overdrive, select the bridge pickup and you could be the next member of The White Stripes. Playing two string chords on this bass come out the cleanest I've heard and acoustically it can hold its own with 1-2 guitars. My personal recommendations are to use a set of flatwounds and check all your hardware for tightness. I raised the action on my bass slightly which really made it a tone monster. If you're looking for something that does well low, drop this to C#, and play some Rage Against The Machine. You won't be disappointed. I believe this to be an instant classic.

got my Starcaster a few weeks ago and am very happy with the purchase. Unlike a lot of bass guitars that sound good in one tone setting but pretty so so if you want a variety of tone settings, the Starcaster with 2 massive humbuckers sounds great from gut pounding bass to high treble clicky crunch. Don't let the MADE IN China scare you off, this is a great sounding, well made, properly balanced, beautiful guitar at a good price. The only negatives i have are, it does not come with a case and at about 11lbs it is really Heavy for a short scale simi-hollow body guitar. This of course due mostly to the maple neck and large block in the body. Over all a good buy at this price and i would recommend.

It has a nice tone once dialed in. It takes considerable amp adjustment when switching from a solid body. The neck itself is comfortable and responsive to play. I like the unique vintage look. I don't like the sharp edge that constantly bites into your arm. I often tune this bass to drop D and use it for for a few songs, but couldn't play it all night.
