I bought this bass as backup bass to use because my regular C.F. Martin acoustic bass is at the Martin factory getting a neck reset. I wanted something fun to fool around with while my Martin was in thew shop - so this was purchased as something different to play on for a month or two. But the funny thing was it turned out to be a very likable and very easy to play bass that I really enjoy! The newly designed pickup is fantastic! Great selection of tones!

Big kudos to zZounds yet again for providing in-house financing. They have provided me with an excellent Gibson SG Special 6 string, and now this Fender bass guitar. I am a novice guitar player and a beginner on bass. The price-for-what-you-get is outstanding with this one, plus the candy apple finish is superb. The fretboard, neck, & body are all the right woods, plus I like the dot inlays. They seem to be less distracting than the larger trapezoids to learn finger placement with. The Bass is a bit heavy, which says good things about the woods, but the balance is really good when you play it. It does not nose dive like some of my 6 string guitars do. As to the sound, the triplebucker pickup has 5 preselects for tone control, compared to more expensive equipment with separate pickups. So far, there is a small limiting factor with this design, which may not be to every players's preference. However, as a non-pro and Bass beginner, this guitar suits me perfectly in every way that I had hoped it would. By comparison, an American Fender carries a substantially higher purchase price, with a greater range of sound control, but at this stage it would have been overkill for me, gear-wise, to validate a more expensive purchase. It helps too that I have a quality bass amplifier to work with this, because a lame amp can't make any guitar sound good. Conclusion: I am very happy with this instrument and with zZounds yet again.
