I had to change the strings. The Fender Strings that were on it were terrible. I put some Rotosound 66 nickel flatwounds on it 40-100 guage. I play it through my mesa 400+ with all the settings set flat. This bass kicks like a mule. I never had a mexican bass before but after playing this bass I can see what the fuss is about. I think after playing for 26 years and owning a bus load of basses I think am a pretty fair judge of character. This bass sounds great and plays great. The fretwork is perfect and the ash body resonates great. The only thing that bothers me is the road worn thing. I really liked the paint job and If I wanted to dent it I would do it myself. But I don't think this is a big enough gripe considering all the positives. Try one out. You will be glad you did.

I bought this Bass on a Thursday standard ground shipping and it came Saturday. zZounds made it easy with the 8 mo. Pay as you play payment plan. As for the actual product I was impressed, the Seymour Duncan sounds crisp and punchy on my Ampeg BA 210 v2 combo amp. The Badass bridge is a great bonus because on most Fenders I've owned I've had to use after market bridges because theirs are so janky. The neck is pretty fast and the only thing I'd note about it is that the truss rod is a little hard to get to. When I got the bass it was in great condition and just had a wonky setup on the E string but I put Elixir Stainless Steel strings on it so no problem there. I do like the ash body. Gives it some heft which I prefer. This is classic P with the Quarter pound sound I've always preferred and a better bridge for a good price. Would definitely recommend.
