Just got the bass today and after 1 hour of set up and tuning and then 1 hr of play testing I have to say i'm pretty impressed with this bass with it being a Mexican made fender. usually the Mexican made fenders cut corners here and there and well there was no corners cut on this bass. it's every bit a 1000 dollar bass. that said there a few minor nuisances. The not so great: came with standard fender strings on it and no set up what so ever. The steve sig strings where in the gig bag had to put them on myself and then set up the bass. normally on instruments you sometime may need to make slight adjustments when it's been shipped to changes in environment on the wood. but this bass felt like it had no factory setup done to it at all. Beginners getting this bass will want to chunk the strings thinking they are too stiff and they will be with out proper setup. got to go low on the action. neck wood is not rolled into the fret board like a US made p bass... but well it's not US made so no bigy the fret edges are well treated though so no hand saw. it lacks a leo quan bada-- II bridge. but well not fender's fault as those bridges are no longer made. THE GREAT; Awesome sound (especially with the steve strings on it) To date this is the only bass I've managed to get perfect action with the steve strings. So big plus as I love those heavy a-- strings. it's beautifully detailed. I bet if you stood it next to Steve's actual bass you'd be hard pressed to tell which is which (if you didn't look at the bridges). The custom fender bridge actually looks like a bit of an improvement on leo quan's bridge. it's got a bit more metal on it than the quan bridge and the saddles look far more stable than a quan bridge's. over all I can't wait to play on this instrument some more, but alas I got to go to sleep so I can get to work tonight. i'll up date my review after a few months to give it a better impression of longer term owner ship. So far this looks like a winner ... It's worth every penny.

I bought this bass for my husband. He says it is solid and feels good in your hands. He loves the maple fret board and shiny pick guard. If you are looking to turn some heads with your bass - this is your baby! It arrived well packaged and in original box. I also purchased a hard case but it does come with a soft bag that is pretty decent. He has gotten nothing but mass amounts of compliments about this bass since he opened it.
