the guitar is downright inspiring. It feels perfect, it looks perfect and it sounds even better. I cannot overstate this. every sound that comes out of this instrument is a Maserati. EJ has combined pickups from different vintage year strats. he did NOT mess this up. the neck is based on a ‘54. the middle is based on a ‘63. the bridge has alnico 5s. combining the bridge and middle or the neck and middle, cancels the single coil hum. every position on the blade gives you a different, perfect sounding strat. the bridge tone knob affects the bridge and the bridge/ midl pup combo. the neck tone knob affects the neck and the neck/ midl pup combo. the middle pup, when used by itself, has no tone control. I had mine put on a plek machine and the computer dressed the entire fretboard and the nut. now the frets measure within .0002”. essentially perfect. the best production strat fender makes. the only way to get a better strat from fender is thru the custom shop. the guitar inspires. I’m giving it 5 stars because they won’t let me give it 6.

I have played for over 30 years and have played 100's of strats and strat style guitars. This EJ strat is the best strat Fender has going! The tones are very bell like and clear. Un-plugged, the guitar rings out like no other strat I have played, very resonant! The neck fits well in my hands and the 12" fretboard radius makes bending and string set up easy. This EJ strat is the epitome of what a strat should sound like. EJ wouldn't have it any other way!
One more thing.. Zzounds is by far the best music store on the web! If you ask a question, you get a real answer from a trained Pro! Thanks Zzounds!

I have played many Strats however nothing sounds like the Eric Johnson. I opened the box and played for hours, just couldn't get enough! Great job Fender and thanks to all the very helpful people at ZZounds to make this purchase go so smooth. Didn't need any manufacturer support but gave it 5 stars since I didn't want to spoil the overall rating.

This guitar is SO amazing, I don't know where to begin. The feel, the clarity, the absolutely amazing array of sounds you get...all are stupendous. This thing is so fun to play, I'm sure it is making me a better musician!!
Sound
The sound quality is superb. I've never had such amazing response. This thing is a mystery machine. I am shocked at how great it sounds.
Features
The staggered tuning pegs, get rid of the need for a "tree" on the headstock and you stay in tune better when you use the whammy bar!
Ease of Use
this guitar would sound immaculate through a peavey bandit.
Quality
Again, this is the best guitar on the planet.
Value
I would have paid more if I knew how much I would love it.
