If you're like me, and can't afford a separate control surface for your recording software, digital mixer for your live gigs, and audio interface, than this product is for you. Period. I can't say enough about how easy it is to get used to. It is designed very intuitively. And the best part (in my opinion) is that for $599, you get a product which gives you a 2in-2out USB audio interface, which you can step up to 8inputs later if you need it (I'll end up getting the EZ-8, I'm sure, but for now, I'm just using USB). ANY control surface is better than mixing with a mouse, and this one is no exception. With one button-push, you go from using it as an audio input to a MIDI controller. My only complaint so far: I've had a hard time getting SoundDiver to recognize it as my MIDI device, in order to receive MIDI signals from my POD 2.0 (I can send them to the POD no problem). I've spent a lot of time on the phone with Mike from tech support (who's been TERRIFIC), and I think that we're near the end of the problem. I haven't tried using the mic pre's yet, so I can't say how they sound, but the fact that they're built in is yet another tremendous plus.
Bottom line, this is a great product. Well thought out, serves multiple purposes, and has very good sound quality. You may want something that sounds better later (I haven't found that point yet), but this little box has A LOT going for it!
I use Windows XP on a PentiumIV 1.7Ghz Sony Vaio. I've run this on Cubase, and as an audio input into Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.
