ESP LTD H1007 Electric Guitar (7-String)

Stand out from the crowd with this beautifully crafted 7-string guitar. The H1007's EMG 81-7 and 707 active pickups give its low B string plenty of punch.

I debated for years moving to a 7 string and finally did it with the H1007 and was glad I did. Overall great craftsmanship on the build and a real joy to play. I find the neck profile very similar to the Wizard neck from Ibanez...I played those for many years but something was just a little different about the ESP profile. Aside from being wider to fit the B string it just feels a tad bit thicker and that's exactly what I was looking for. The EMG's work great...I don't really have a lot to compare them to in the 7 string area but no complaints for what I do with them. If this were my only guitar and I was focused more on lead work I might be inclined to go passive...but my 6 strings do the job quite well for that sort of thing. I must confess I was a bit puzzled by the action from the factory...it was a bit on the high side at 4mm on the B. The bridge screws were bottomed out and there was no ability to adjust the bridge lower. After a bit of research I found a few other folks with "tuneomatic" type bridges that had the same issue. The remedy was to cut about 5mm off of the screw length. Mind you this is not for the faint of heart or someone without proper tools...but in about 5 minutes problem solved. I was able to get about 1.5mm on the high strings and 2mm on the B. You do need to keep the B string higher to avoid "strum buzz"...it's thicker and will buzz a little when open strummed. Thanks ESP for a great instrument...I will see you on the 6 string side soon.

I've had this guitar for 5 months.... I love it! The sound is amazing! It keeps tune well, is built with great quality, and has that quality of sound you can't typically find in this price range. zZounds is an awesome company to buy from.... Pay as you play is fantastic! When I first received this guitar, there was some shipping damage. I had a replacement in not less than 2 days. Their customer service is top notch, and I plan on buying from these guys again!

"7 String nastiness!"

I ordered this LTD 7 stringer and it arrived on time and played amazing right out of the box. I didn't even need to set it up or change strings on this beast. The people at ESP definitely care about quality in the products they produce. I definitely recommend zZounds and ESP to anyone who needs a instrument on the spot.

"Great guitar, bad setup"

So this is my first 7-string. The guitar itself is awesome. Well built. Feels solid. Good weight. I find the neck to be easy to work with in light of the extra string I'm getting used to. Everything was great about it right out of the box except the setup. I'm not sure how much buzz a typical 7-string should have on the B string. I would assume none if setup right. Regardless the B and E strings don't have any clearance above the frets from the fifth fret to the nut. Lots of string buzz. Makes it not very fun to tinker around on unplugged. Plugged into an amp you can almost pretend its not there but it is. I know this is a fixable issue and I intend to take to a pro for a proper setup but I would expect this guitar to be more playable right out of the box for the $$. If the setup were perfect this thing would be a beast!

"LTD top notch quality"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I've had the chance to spend some time on one of these guitars and the other review posted here really baffles me. As someone professionally trained at a luthier (guitar building) school, It is clear to me that the customer who reviewed this prior to me had gotten a particularly badly set up instrument (as can happen with any company). None of the issues stated in that review were present in my session with this quality instrument as it was set up appropriately. I found the tone to be very clear and saw no setup flaws which is especially good considering I was playing the floyd rose version as opposed to the hard tail, which are more of a pain generally. Long story short, this is a great value and the guy who reviewed this guitar for lack of a better word is an idiot. Do not let a poorly conducted review sway your opinion on a fine instrument people. My best advice here is to consider that with many companies you are getting what you pay for, and for under 1000 this is a VERY well built instrument from LTD as per usual, also the key factor in this is instead of listening to me or other people (mainly the previous moron) who review instruments and try to get a chance to sit down with it yourself. But I can say, with this guitar a sit down session is not likely to disappoint you. Happy hunting.

I have almost always used ESP/LTD guitars exclusively. I was playing two H-1001's tuned to B-standard, so when I saw they were coming out with the H-1007, I was excited. I received it today and the action resembles that of a $150 guitar. The bottom 2 strings buzz considerably and the guitar has less sustain than most bolt-ons. I have never been more dissappointed in a purchase. The sound is flat and dreadful.
