The Epiphone Elitist 1965 Casino represents how good an electric guitar can be.
Sound
The hollow body design of the Casino makes it useful for unplugged practice or, plug it in for a versatile range of tones from the Gibson USA-made P90 pickups. Nails the iconic sounds of jazz, blues, and (of course) classic rock.
Features
The Epiphone Elitist Casino features a 5 ply maple hollow body, spruce bracing, a slim mahogany neck, 22 frets, single coil Gibson P90 pickups, premium electronics and wiring, and a light coat of poly finish. Mine came in flawless vintage sunburst with a fit and finish quality uncommon outside of custom shops and boutique builders. This guitar is built to last a lifetime and sound great the whole time.
Ease of Use
The tone of the instrument is well worth the price of admission. Standard four controls and three-way switch make this guitar feel like an old friend. The hollow body is light and resonant which adds a unique texture to the great voice of the P90s. It's hard not to sound good on this guitar. The thin neck is instantly comfortable and highly playable. String transition and fingerboard runs are a breeze.
Quality
The build quality of this instrument is world class.
Value
You may prefer the Gibson headstock. A comparable guitar by Gibson costs only a little more. You really can't go wrong either way. For me, I had to have a real Casino and I could care less for the brand (I already have a bunch of Gibsons). This guitar is absolutely as good as any Gibson.
Manufacturer Support
Gibson/ Epiphone and zZounds have always helped in the past.
The Wow Factor
Lots of brilliant artists have played Casinos over the decades. That may boost the appeal of this guitar for some. For me, it is great in its own right as a unique instrument that will find many nights of gig use and many days of studio work.
